About Me

Dear Acetate are an energised four piece band, influenced by the rock, punk and indie sounds of today and yesteryear. The band started rehearsing and songwriting together early in 2006, and by the end of the year had already supported The Wonder Stuff at the 1000 capacity Aylesbury Civic. This was swiftly followed by a personal request from Embrace frontman Danny McNamara to play a special Another Music = Another Kitchen night at the Proud Galleries in Camden, for the Embrace end of year party, and to celebrate Danny's birthday. 2007 has seen the band playing further gigs across London and the home counties, with plans to tour later in the year.
The studio recorded tracks you can hear, are taken from Dear Acetate's debut EP 'Rise of the Luddites', recorded at Unsigned Studios in St. Albans during September 2006. The band have recently returned to the studio to record what promises to be an auspicious follow up. There'll be preview tracks available from these sessions for you to hear over the summer. For the nostalgic amongst you wanting to hear some very early material, Pure Volume has tracks from the original recording sessions of February 2006; just 5 weeks after the band came together! You can also hear some more live tracks by checking out our myspace video section.
As the more astute of you may have already suspected, although Hertfordshire and North London based, some of Dear Acetate originally hail from a little further afield. Shane moved to London from the West Coast of Ireland, and Stee from Blackpool, hence a band from the south of England singing with a northern accent. Marc still resides in his native Hemel, having returned there after uni, and Mk in Watford, where Stee is also now based.
A big thanks to all of you for your continued support, your appreciation of our music means a lot to us. It's quite a buzz being up there on stage doing what we love, and your reaction and response makes it all the more rewarding.
