During the summer of '99, Eddie X was working at Grooveman music records on Washington Ave in Miami Beach. Luigie handed him a CD compilation of his own production of dance tracks. Eddie X and Luigie teamed up to create a track for Pump's 2nd anniversary party. Eddie X was a working DJ at Liquid (nightclub) and Pump (after-hours nightclub) and would eventually be resident DJ for Crobar (South Beach).Loving the club scene and dance music inspired Luigie to put together some tracks and see if he can aside from writing, producing, and remixing various artists, could explore the world of dance music. Billboard magazine reporter for the dance charts since 1993, Eddie X made use of the connection with the record label and his new musical partner Luigie and Your roots" (a deep underground tribal experience with hints of Eddie X chanting vocals) was released under the name XL project. The next accomplishment for the duo was adding a female vocalist and L.E.X. project feat. Nadia was released and signed under logic records in NYC. Major radio buzz kept them busy touring the radio and club circuit and received the SONY award that year for best upcoming group in Florida. Their first top 10 on the billboard dance chart was a driving tribal remix of Drums Come Alive" by Tomba Vira in November of 2000 and was a featured winter music conference track in 2001. This opened the door for the continued success of L.E.X. project. With friend and new partner Glen Shorr in Los Angeles the trio now formed 3 Monkeys Productions in March of 2004. They relocated and opened their studio at the old Casablanca records building in the heart of the Sunset Strip. Their dreams and wishes started to unfold when industry music icons such as Barry Manilow used them to vamp up a 2005 remix of Copacabana which is still being performed today by Barry in Vegas. With Luigie's progressive trance style together with Eddie's tribal beats and vocals they created a marriage of sounds so distinct that still define them today. They have also infused other influences to create a diverse sound resulting in remixes and productions that vary in style. The diversity is clearly exemplified in their catalogue: Ricky Martin, I Don't Care, Bette Midler, Fever, Madonna, Hung Up, Donna Summer, I Got Your Love, Lawrence Welk, You are My Sunshine, and Jason & DeMarco, Trying.
The future holds no bounds as L.E.X. further grow with production of original material, developing artists and CD projects in the works. They also look forward to launching their record label, 3MP Records.
