About Me

Spill Magazine Online review of 'The Cataclysm'
"Layered with overpowering soundscapes built around dark, enigmatic music and despairingly bleak lyrics, The Cataclysm is the product of a musician ready to bleed for his art...The Cataclysm was written, performed, recorded and produced by Galas so it truly is a product of his imagination. The album is perfect for fans of a genre"-Andrew Seale
UltimateMetal.com review of 'The Cataclysm'
"The Cataclysm is a massive record by every stretch of the imagination. The music, for the most part, is slow, brooding, and melancholy...This album should appeal to fans of dark wave, neo folk, ambient and even doom metal...The album may not appeal to every listener, but those who are interested will be rewarded with an extremely amazing record. If you are looking for a out of mind and out of body listening experience, David Galas.. The Cataclysm may be the record you are looking for. "-Michael Koger
Malstrom.nu review of 'The Cataclysm' Rating=9/10
"What an amazing album. This is a masterpiece of dark rock spanning over an hour with every instrument, every mixing board, every production decision, and every mastering knob in the hands of David Galas."-Saint Jinn
Answers.com review of 'The Cataclysm'
"Some connections to Lycia are unavoidable -- Galas has a similar fascination with obsessive, focused performances that seek to envelop and dominate -- but he stands well on his own...check the title track's split between contemplation and blasting rampage and Galas's long-brewing work proves itself to be a masterpiece."-Ned Raggett, All Music Guide
Screaming Bloody Mess review of 'The Cataclysm'
"The Cataclysm does well to solidify his name as a darkwave artist in his own right. Melancholic movements sweep throughout the album with depressive vocal stylings and synthetic percussion. Strings lift and lull the listener where appropriate and the pace is kept to a crawl for added doom...The Cataclysm is nevertheless a good album by a veteran of the goth rock scene."-Warren
Aversion Online review of 'The Cataclysm'
"It kind of sucks you into this cozy, laidback framework that has a subtle aggression at work - and one that does occasionally surface within a few heavier and more literally intense passages. I have to admit that 19 tracks/70+ minutes is one hell of a sitting, but - at least to my ears - it's impossible not to appreciate that this is such a unified and thought-out piece of work, and the cohesion between the tracks does help to carry the concept throughout. Very nice."
The Metal Observer review of 'The Cataclysm'
" If my introduction paragraph was a thesis, this album would be the demonstration because, although crafting something really depressive, the dark emotions are given just through a flawless musicianship... no cliches, no commercialism, only well played, softly punching and blood-chilling music."-Daniel
3:16 Productions review of 'The Cataclysm'
"Laying down expansive Goth rock without the cheekiness, this endeavor blends the works of early Floyd, earthy Opeth, and the metallic side of darkwave, entrancing the masses while keeping the gloom and doom at a fever pitch."-Mike SOS
Decibel Magazine review of 'The Cataclysm'
"The chiming folk noir overtones, howls of anguish and discordant scraping chill the very soul in ways few other miserablists manage, and even the time-stretching ambient lulls glue everything together nice and coldly. The new black? Think darker and darker still."-Jerry A. Deathburger

Release Magazine review of 'The Cataclysm'. Rating 9/10
"There need to be more albums like this one. Created between June 1999 and November 2005, "The Cataclysm" is a well thought-out piece of work that sears into you and lingers like mercury pollution in the water table. Like a phosphate burn, it keeps eating away at you, shredding away at the meat until it reaches bone." Peter Marks

Heathen Harvest review of 'The Cataclysm'.
"I cannot think of a way to describe how this masterpiece made me feel other than it gave me a 75-minute long orgasm fueled by gothic lust. It truely amazes me that my top album of 2006 would come in at the very last minute." -Lord Lycan

(english version in the blog section).
"There are these rare moments in life when you discover an album like ..The Cataclysm.. and only very seldom an album is so overwhelmingly good that I think of awarding it the top score. This time I don..t only think of it .. I do it because it simply has deserved it. Whoever has only the slightest weakness for spherical, dreamy and melancholic sounds and likes the already mentioned bands should have at least one listen. This one time could be enough to enter a new world of music which you don..t want to leave. It happened to me years ago with LYCIA, and DAVID GALAS is just the next logical step." -Bastian Voigtlaender
