When it comes to totally commandeering the airwaves, you'd be hard pressed to find someone with more skill or finesse. Her resume in the field is quite impressive; she worked at NYC's premier dance radio station, WKTU, for over nine years total as both an on-air personality and programming assistant by working her way up from driving the promotions van all over town. She pumped the music for New York full-time, latenights from 10pm-2am and Sunday mornings from 10am-2pm for over 6 years. You heard her on Sirius Satellite Radio's premiere Rock Channel, Octane 20 where she not only was a regular rock jock host but also had her own Spanish Rock feature called, "La Fuerza". Her radio roots stem from one of the Top College Radio stations in the country, WSOU, which was NUMBER 1 the years she was there. Her proudest moment was recieving an award from the Album Network, an industry trade rock magazine as the " Program Director of the Year" while she programmed the NUMBER 1 loudest rock radio station in the country. Her present radio job is perhaps the most exciting. The position is through ABC radio, where she co-hosts with superstar, multi-platinum artist, Daddy Yankee that is heard by millions in 34 markets all over the country. The show is an immense hit and its broadcast attract the biggest corporate sponsors each week in every top market in the country.
All these tasks might sound overwhelming to the average individual, but Jewelz is the type of lady that gobbles up new experiences with vim and gusto. Her latest and perhaps most eye-opening project is one that's sure to catapult her career to next level status. She recently collaborated with brand consultant-extraordinaire, DavidM on a multimedia art and music undertaking titled "Con Amor Margarita." The project boasts an impressive trifecta: an artistic short film starring Jewelz, an exquisite photography book, and a multi-tiered traveling art exhibit. This "indie" short film will be a featured and make it's grand debut this summer in the prestigious "HBO Latino Film Festival", which will be another great honor for the incomparable Ms. Lopez.
Her highly visible presence and her Mainstream credibility and experience make Jewelz an extremely coveted personality for corporate entities trying to gain a foothold in the fast-growing American Latino Market. She's hosted the CBS Latin show, "La Nueva Estrella," made several appearances on ABC's "Exclusiva," and has done an appearance for WB-11's morning show as a celebrity newscaster. Jewelz also recently completed a gig as the national host for Cuervoton Talent Search--a massive, nationwide event to scout the next wave of urban Latino talent.
Jewelz has also lent her star power to the biggest youth-geared cable channels. She's appeared on MTV's, "VJ for a Day," hosted red carpets for both MTV and VH1's "My Video Music Awards", and even held court with the legendary "material girl" doing backstage broadcasts for Madonna's "Drowned World Tour." Starting out in college introducing bands like Iron Maiden, Sepultura, Incubus, Pantera in sold out stadiums and concerts were an incredible start. She's also had the exhilarating opportunity to introduce the ever-fabulous P-Diddy for a sold-out, Madison Square Garden concert. We could definitely go on and on, but let's leave it at that for now.
The coming years are sure to bring even more giant strides and achievements for Jewelz. She has already been named one of the top 5 "Power Players" on the scene and in the country by LATINA MAGAZINE, she continues to teach in the classrooms of Seton Hall University as an ad-junct professor for 5 years strong, and you can be sure that more accolades are bound to follow. Even the most talented and determined people sometimes play the sideline, and watch life's events pass them by. Not Jewelz--for Ms. Lopez, life has always been a no-holds-barred, full-contact sport, and this diva is in it to win.
