One Last Sin started in 1995 evolving from the band Void. Numerous influences could be named however what was produced was a death metal, hardcore mix. Demo’s were produced, shows were played and eventually interest was seen both locally and across the ocean. 1997 & 1998 three 7†records were recorded and put out across the pond. 1 was on Inner Rage Records in France (Fury of V, Overcast) , One was on Answer Records in Japan (which was a split 7†with Device Change) and the third was on Braveheart Records in Belgium (split with Withdrawn USA). All records were well received and in 1999 One Last Sin got the go-ahead from Release Power Productions in Belgium (Inner Dam, Beneath The Remains) to do a full length CD. The CD was once again well received and gained attention in Malaysia. It was repressed onto Cassette and distributed throughout Southeast Asia. Many shows were played and a final lineup was introduced. Many musical changes were experimented with eventually leading to the end of One Last Sin and the creation of the band Dogface. The end.
One Last Sin Facts you might not care about:We played a show in Maine at some dive bar…terrible turnout and a strange show promoter who was drunk hit on us young guys all night. All scared to go back into the club after packing up the car, we all left without getting paid or saying thanks.
We played up in Vermont at some schmucks house. He told us there would be people, beer etc. We got there in a huge blizzard played with and for Painmask and Unbalanced. The dude didn’t even have food for us so we stole a bag of chips from him. He sent me an e-mail demanding to be paid back for them. There was a rumor over in Europe that Joel was killed. Likewise it was also thought we all worshipped satan and sacrificed goats.
Dan broke a shitload of guitar strings. We made him buy a spare guitar to make it through our shows. The name One Last Sin came from Beetle from End of One.For many years practice was at Joel’s house in Fishkill. We then later moved camp out to Dan’s house in Gardineer. Both places were quite rough and tuff and certainly hardcore….Josh was only 15 when he joined One Last Sin. Our lady friends crowned him with the name “Pudgy Nugget†awwwwww….Mike F. was trying out for us and Dan decided to play Green Day’s Basket Case for fun…It was during this Mike let out the most intense screaming. He won us over after that song.Face of Neglect was actually a song by John, Mike F. and Dan in a side project.Mercy was recorded a lot of times because we all liked doing the hell part at the end of the song. The girly screams are Joel. Many band meetings were held at The Hobnobbin Pub or Pizza Phil where nothing ever got accomplished. The 1995 demo was recorded by Jeff Death at Snakepit Studio’s. All others were done by John at Mind Magic Studios in Po-Town. We’re all mighty upset that John from Mind Magic sold the most comfortable couch in the universe when he move out from the Poughkeepsie location.Joel recorded the CD after an accident which left him with two slipped discs in his back..everything was recorded in pain…now that’s metal.Jay bought a wireless system for his bass and that day played a show at the Chance. He jumped into the crowd while playing. I’m not sure if we were more stunned than the crowd was?We played a show at The New Milford Teen Center (which we have on tape) Rich moved his head only once.We all thought 80’s solos were cheesy until Scott showed us how they’re done right.John was Straightedge although he never labeled himself that way.Mike L. was jumping off a cliff into water with Dan in New Paltz right before a show…He bellyflopped broke a rib and collapsed a lung…still played the show then admitted himself to the hospital. Now That’s Hardcore.Dan was asked to name his classical guitar piece on the CD…at time of press it was still undecided so it was called “Classical Songâ€.We played a few times at the Beatnik Hollow in Wappingers Falls..how many of you fukkers remember that place? We never had a van but we did have the wagon. Mike F. had a beatup old station wagon that never let us down. Our friend Eric did back up vocals on a demo with us…through a review in a fanzine he got the moniker Abrasive Eric.Rich made some kid in high school buy our cheesy 4 track tape for $20 so he could get lunch. Our favorite shows were at Evans Barn, which should be added to the list of historic hardcore show places….good times.
