About Me

ATTENTION! VOTE FOR MY SONG ON STATICCHAIN.COM TO HELP ME GET ON THEIR COMPILATION ALBUM!!! ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS FOLLOW THE LINK. YOU'D BE HELPING OUT A LOT. THANKS IN ADVANCE. If you want a fresh new voice that packs a punch and rocks the socks off of any audience in the greater Baltimore area, you’ve come to the right folksinger. Toni Sicola has a dynamite voice and a knack for words that’ll both touch your heart and move your feet. Her style is ironic – writing tender lyrics to the tune of a knee-slapping fiddle or banjo – but she’ll grab your heart with her big white teeth in songs like “Test of Time,” a tune from her latest EP, Another Thing Coming. While Sicola will laugh and joke with the audience between songs, she’s serious when she hits that first chord on her Ibanez. And she means every word resonating from her Italian American lungs. Her Texas roots ring true in both her songwriting and in her instrumentation, but her most powerful influences come from the new folk scene on the East Coast. Dar Williams, Indigo Girls, and Ani Difranco, to mention a few, were her primary influences when she first picked up her instrument at the age of 17. Starting out with Christian campfire songs, and then moving on to write her own, Sicola released her first full-length record (In the Sun) by the age of 20; quite an accomplishment for a full-time college student. And with her latest album available at CDBaby, iTunes, Myspace, and right here on this website, she’s carved out a place for herself in the Baltimore live music scene as well. Keep your eyes on this one, because she’s one Seriously Badass Folk Rocker you won’t want to miss. . . . . . . . .Check out White Cat at www.whitecatproductions.com. My Interests

Music:

Band Website: tonisicola.com
Band Members: Just me, but I'm always lookin'
Influences: Growing up, I was exposed to everything from jazz to OLD OLD country. My grandmother listened to Nat King Cole and Judy Garland, while my grandfather had me singing Patsy Kline and Johnny Cash. In my parents' house, I heard 80's top 40, John Denver, The Carpenters, and Motown. As I developed my musical ear and started spending my own money in music stores, I picked up female acoustic artists like Indigo Girls, Ani Difranco, Dar Williams, Catie Curtis, Melissa Ferrick, and Tracy Chapman-- just to name a few. There's a lot of folk and country influence in the music that I write, but nothing compares to belting out ballads about heartbreak like Karen Carpenter's "Superstar."
Sounds Like: I sound like myself, but have been compared to a wide range of artists. Stylistically, I've been compared to Ani Difranco, Indigo Girls, Tracy Chapman, Sheryl Crow, and Jewel (pre-sell-out). I've also heard that I sound like Cyndi Lauper and Madonna vocally, but I'm not so sure I agree.
Type of Label: None
