Support your local music scene, dammit! There's bands out there that blow away the crap in rotation on any radio station.
I also like (old) Metallica, Iron Maiden, Slayer, Megadeth, Overkill, and I'm a fan of any band I've ever played in or played with... unless we / they sucked. Obviously I like Metal, but I also like hard rock, thrash, some alt rock, classic rock, comedy and parody's, live acoustic performances that
don't suck. Basically AC/DC to ZZ Top with Dee Snyder as the all night DJ. Fuck Casey Casum and his top 40 countdown.
Furthermore, rap is not music. It's a compilation of noise, spoken word and a simple bass riff over an obvious 4/4 beat. If you can tap your finger and make three or more words rhyme while talking about shootin' up da hood, wearing bling with your ass hanging out of your pants then you can be a rap star / thuggie. It ain't hard.
