About Me

"Mexico have the best artwork (a nice painting of a dog), and believe me, you can judge a book by its cover very well. There’s no shortage of dark, epic indie rock, but when it’s done well, you remember why. It’s classy, it’s moody, the guitars are tense and dark. We like”
- Emily Mackay, The Stool Pigeon
Mexico are a London-based band consisting of Gareth Jones (Drums), Richi Haine (Bass), Jordan Read (Guitar & Vocals) and John Samuelson (Guitar and Backing Vocals) Back in the day, Jordan Read, Gareth Jones and school friend James Gravenstede formed a band after knowing each other for about 10 years - good things come to those who wait. Along with other friends from their area they started picking up instruments and playing for the simple reason that there really was nothing else to do in Sussex.
Whilst in pursuit of a higher knowledge (unattained as yet) at Kingston University (that’ll be why), Jordan met Richi Haine who started playing music because there was also very little to do in his native Gloucestershire. Before long a good musical bond was formed and the band began entertaining the London gig-going masses. However tragedy was never far away as James was unbelievably killed in a car crash. A year after losing a great friend and guitarist, the three remaining members decided to give it another shot.
Enter John Samuelson, guitar anti-hero and budding producer, who gave up a life of purity to come and play lead guitar for the band now known as Mexico. The band has just recorded their first demo with John at the control desk which is already gaining recognition in developing nations such as Germany. Mexico are starting to gig in and around London and are fast becoming renowned for their energetic shows. Please come and check us out…
