About Me
I AM A PHOTOGRAPHER… AND LOVIN' IT!
I started taking pictures when I was about 13 years old after requesting a darkroom set for Christmas. My uncle came through and helped me set it up (my uncle, by the way, was the first Black Director of Photography in Hollywood and was nominated for Emmy awards for his work on “Rootsâ€. He has since gone into directing as well and has directed for Oprah and worked for Michael Jackson for over 15 years. Needless to say, he’s been a great source of inspiration).
I’m very fascinated by different cultures and periods of time, especially the 30s and 40s. I love New Orleans and several of the screenplays I’ve written take place there (yes – I write too).
I also LOVE old movies. Especially the old black & white ones with the "All-Negro" casts with actors like Lena Horne, Cab Calloway, The Nicholas Brothers, Harry Belafonte, etc.
As for music... a huge mix. R&B, jazz, 70s/80s old school (the BEST school), classical, afro/cuban, calypso, and Broadway musicals. Some of my contemporary favorites are: Toni Braxton, Sade, Alicia Keys, Lauryn Hill, Aaliyah, Johnny Mathis, Destiny's Child, and I still have to listen to some Marvin Gaye. I also listen to my two collectors items: A numbered/limited recording of The Jackson 5 Live in Japan recorded in 1973, and Sammy Davis, Jr. Live at the Sands in Las Vegas (which was never released)
Currently I'm in the process of producing and directing two short films that I will be taking to the film festivals and I'm completely amazed at some of the awesome talent that has come aboard the projects.
I also love to cook, but if anyone can hook up some really great seafood gumbo… well, you know what to do!!!
Be sure to watch for the launch of my new website! I'm tellin' ya... it's gonna be the HOTNESS!!!
