About Me

Something has been in the oven too long. Now it’s burned. This dark guitar pop gets colored crispy black: Folk, noise, soul, and 60’s garage rock all find their influences in Batteries weird brand of rock ’n roll. Altogether, we’re no strangers to playing music in Minnesota and beyond. Dave spent the past few years playing drums and bass as the other half of a duo led by Haley Bonar. We toured extensively, opening for acts such as Richard Buckner, Low, Neko Case, and Daniel Johnston. Bryon has spent most of his life on the bass, with gigs ranging from time in the Duluth Symphony Orchestra to the rock played by bands like Puddle Wonderful and Both. Drummer Joseph Paul once fronted the Fargo boy band Beat Street. Organist/vocalist Cougar Conley is currently recording his second solo album, after a stint on guitar with The State Champs. Kyle Alan, formerly of Sleepfarmer, is finishing up the epic rock collaboration that is Humanoid.Batteries recently released our debut album "That Great Grandsuck of the Sea" to high praise. The Duluth Budgeteer named it one of the "Top 10 albums from the Northland of 2007," a short list that includes the likes of Charlie Parr, Low, and Cloud Cult. Look for it in stores, at shows, and on the internet soon, of course.
