Hidden away in Chicago’s underground is a producer that creates R&B Soul renowned for inspiring erotic song lyrics, and undoubtedly a few romantic evenings. Byron J. Woodward, A.K.A. BJ, started his career as a DJ and rapper in ’92. The deeper he got into the game, the more he realized his true calling was creating the hot tracks he was rapping too. BJ has now been an R&B/Soul/Hip-Hop/Pop producer for a decade plus, and has earned a reputation as the last real R&B track maker behind a keyboard.
A sampling of his smooth sounds can be heard on Chi-town's favorite radio station, 107.5 WGCI’s Whispers in the Dark intro with Beyonce Foxx from 10pm-2am. Additionally, Power 92.3 WPWX features a more hip-hop sound from the producer for Rocsi’s The Midday Mami intro, performed by Kwiet Storm(KS2).
The producer taught himself how to play the keyboard, put himself through college for his B.A. in Computer Science, and built his own basement studio. His dedication to the craft has lead him to working with distinguished artists like Joe and the infamous Chi-lites. He is part of that distinct Chicago sound made popular by R. Kelly, and has produced for hometown legends such as Feloney Davis of Public Announcement("Real Talk"), Lil Mann, Traye D, Plat-num Plus,Eric McNeal of Subway, Mar-K of Public Announcement Kwiet Storm("Lights Out, Candles Lit"),Will a.k.a Lucky from Kwiet Storm and now MTV's Making the Band 4,BlockXchange(Disturbing tha Peace), White Boy, Do or Die and Mikkey (formerly from Cash Money Records.), etc.....
With celebrated influences like Prince, Teddy Riley, Timbaland, and Kenneth ‘BabyFace’ Edmonds, and having composed remixes for Toni Braxton and Ciara, many entertainment companies have benefited from working with BJ: Bad Boy Ent., Cash Money Records, Virgin, Universal, Legit Ballin….
