About Me

MyGen Profile GeneratorLet your friends know where you are.
***Currently am off the road, am open to either local or road bands, if we are the right fit--let me know! Also I am taking production/engineering projects, drop me a line if you are interested***
You may not know this about me, but I'm kind of a big deal...
People know me...

I have many leather bound books...
Yeah, actually, you probably don't know me, I'm the guy in the back of the band...shoved in a corner somewhere...big 'ol truss right in front of me...
OK, seriously, here's my Bio as it appears on a couple of other websites:
Now living in Edmond, Michael actually has his origins in Winnipeg, Canada, where at a young age he first became interested in music education. Michael moved to Oklahoma in the early 90's, where he played in the bands at Oklahoma Christian University and the University of Central Oklahoma. Michael feels at home in a variety of music styles, from Jazz to Rock and Country as well as Contemporary Christian. As one of the premiere keyboardists in the Oklahoma City area, Michael performs with many different artists both locally, and across the country. He is currently just returned from 6 years on the road with Nashville recording artist Ty England. Michael has also performed with other artists and groups such as Katrina Elam, The Marvelettes, Robert Sea and Key West, the Edmond Jazz Orchestra, the Eric Leonard Band, and the Groove Merchants, among many others. You can hear his playing on several recordings as well.
Known not only for his skills on the keyboard, Michael is also active as a producer, arranger, and recording engineer. He is fluent with the combination of newer digital and older analog technologies, being active as a technical consultant. Michael also arranges for any type of ensemble, from choir and orchestra to studio horn sections, writing music for both live and studio situations.
Among Michael's infuences are Steve Weingardt, Chick Corea, McCoy Tyner, Joey Calderazzo, Joey DeFrancisco, Keith Jarrett, Kenny Kirkland, Bruce Hornsby, Michael Mcdonald, Sting, Donald Fagin, Michael Omartian, Bill Champlin, and Russ Ferrante.

Some recent album credits of note include:
Ty England - Alive And Well And Living The Dream (Triple T Records) [2006]: Hammond B3, Fender Rhodes
Heather Powers - Lay Them Down (Thousand Mile Music) [2006] Tks 2, 4, 7, & 8: Hammond B3

"The trouble with music appreciation in general is that people are taught to have too much respect for music they should be taught to love it instead." --Igor Stravinsky
"Jazz is there and gone. It happens. You have to be present for it. That simple." --Keith Jarrett
"It's very difficult for me to dislike an artist. No matter what he's creating, the fact that he's experiencing the joy of creation makes me feel like we're in a brotherhood of some kind... we're in it together." --Chick Corea
"Creativity shouldn't be following radio; it should be the other way around." --Herbie Hancock
"I remember sitting next to a girl, a woman, on a flight a few years ago. She'd had a couple of drinks and she said, 'Can I tell you something?' I said, 'Sure.' She said, 'I can't make out properly unless I'm listening to your music'.' He smiles at the memory. 'So that's been my contribution.'" --Burt Bacharach
About Canada:
I don't trust any country that looks around a continent and says, "Hey, I'll take the frozen part." - Jon Stewart
