From the time Kay could speak she was singing. Along with dancing, playing the piano, acting and basically anything artistic. She was always looking for the next concert, talent show or choir to join.
As her astrological sign Leo, she couldn’t be more cliché. Artistic, loves the spotlight, stubborn, bursting with energy and consistently smiling.
All of these factors added up when she graduated from school at the age of 17 and decided to move from Cape Breton, Nova Scotia to the complete opposite side of Canada to pursue her music career. It became even clearer to family and friends that she was driven to succeed.
Voted most likely to be famous in her high school yearbook I believe they were on to something…
It was a year and half and Kay's music had developed remarkably. Her sound is powerful, yet sultry. Her lyrics tell the story that only an old soul could know. She puts words to the emotions that flow through our minds, hearts and souls. She speaks what most people can only feel. The more she writes and hears response of her audience, the more she is inspired to write and sing.
Shortly after moving to Victoria British Columbia she was spotted Formation Records boss SS. Known for taking many an artist under his wing, SS took Kay away from her more down tempo pop ballads and proposed the idea of being a drum & bass vocalist. Already a huge fan of the drum & bass genre, Kay quickly jumped onboard. With only a few months to prepare Kay went on the “2 Dj’s & a Vocalist Tour†with Dj SS & Influx UK, which featured SS back to back with Influx UK and Kay on the vocals. Taking a break from her pop album and currently a full time drum & bass vocalist she is having a blast. A few months later she teamed up with Dj B Traits from Vancouver Island to form the first female drum & bass duo, “Ladies Take Controlâ€.
A year later with numerous shows, two tours and a drum & bass album in the works this is only the beginning for this talented Canadian.
