About Me
BIO by Lana Burrows
LONNIE THOMPSON aka DUTASTA is a natural when it comes to planning parties and making sure everyone has a good time; he's an expert in any social situation. When he moved to Los Angeles from Central California in 1998, Lonnie experienced electronic music and jungle for the first time and identified with it immediately. When September of 2003 rolled around, Lonnie and his friend (now partner), Riccardo decided to plan a birthday party for themselves. As things progressed, they selected a Hollywood club venue and decided to fill it with local DJs such as Scooba, Alder and Hazen. Lonnie and Riccardo became Almost Famous, the turnout was substantial and they decided to keep the vibe going with more parties under the same name. Following the Almost Famous Birthday Bash was their first Time Machine event. Since the first, there have been three parties of this kind, always at a downtown Los Angeles, loft location with the achieved goal of bringing back the old school vibe and showcasing local talent. Lonnie strives to build the local scene by catering to both old and new jungle enthusiasts. Almost Anthems took place May of 2004 and again featured local talent, but this time with a theme of unforgettable, drum and bass anthems from all genres and time periods. Lonnie's next event will be an Almost Famous and Assault Drum & Bass collaboration, the much anticipated return of City of Angeles. This party will feature Los Angeles' top local crews as well as some special guests. It's a thank-you celebration, dedicated to the Southern California junglists and promoters who have worked so hard to put Los Angeles on the map. Lonnie's promotional future is broad; patrons are responding positively to the niche his crew has created for themselves within the explosive Los Angeles scene!
Almost Famous is a Los Angeles based production crew co-founded by DJ World Renowned (Riccardo) and social promoter Earthbound (Lonnie). Still considered new and fresh to the longstanding Drum & Bass scene in Los Angeles, the team started up in December of 2003 planning their first event, Time Machine. The party featured a timeline showcase of DnB from local talent. It was a huge success and received great response from both oldschool junglists, who got to hear tracks from back in the day at an underground party, as well as newbies who enjoyed the vibes and hot music of a good party. By the same standard was Almost Anthems, a party where nearly every song played was a DnB anthem. Almost Famous achieves their success by providing DnB enthusiasts with unique, themed, underground style events, busting on to the Los Angeles party scene in a big way. In addition to the co-founders, the Almost Famous family consists of: Hazen, Dutasta, Aero, AMC, Jason, Circuit, Priest, Philly B, Onket, Trouble and World Renowned -a talented group of DJ's, each with their own style. Almost Famous has brought in many big name dj's, from all over the world. Big-name locals Nightstalker, Hazen, CRS?, XXXL, Alexander & Dennis Moore (creators of Technostate) and R.A.W. have also graced the stages of Almost Famous productions. Make sure to be on the lookout for underground loft parties and occasional club events from this duo .
