About Me

Hi there! I'm Mike Lucas and I'm originally from a small farm town in central California called Hanford. I have been in San Diego now for 11 years and I love it! I'm easy going and usually good for a few laughs. Recently I lost 164lbs and won the San Diego Biggest Loser contest on our local NBC affiliate station 7/39. Since then, I've had the opportunity to make many new friends! I am always up for getting acquainted with new people from all walks of life! I happen to work in sales for a living and I'm also a Certified Russian Kettlebell Fitness instructor! My biggest passion in life is helping other people overcome their fears while fighting the obesity epidemic. If you need help, don't be afraid to ask me for it! Some of my other interests include: listening to music, playing guitar, reading books, watching films, and having drinks among friends. I also like swimming, snorkeling, boogie boarding, and riding my motorcycle on long distance trips, and dining in Vegan restaurants. I do like getting out once in a while for happy hour or the occasional club here and there. (I'm planning on learning how to salsa dance so be careful if you are standing next to me in the early learning phases!)If you would like to get aquainted, drop a line and say hi! For more information about my weight loss journey, see my interest section. The video below is a demonstration of the Russian Kettlebell exercise known as the snatch. -40kg(88 lbs) performed with 1 single rep. My name is Mike and I'm 30 years old. I'm originally from a small farm town in Central California called Hanford. I have lived in San Diego now for 12 years. I like to listen to music, play guitar, read books, watch films, have drinks with friends, write blogs-articles and I love to take my motorcycle out on long distance rides when I can! I love to chat and meet with people from all walks of life. In 2005 I was San Diego's Biggest Loser. (No not the bad kind) 8-) I was on a local scaled down version of the show here in San Diego. During the 6 weeks of competition, I managed to lose 50 lbs to cap off 164 lbs overall weight loss! Since then I have have had some pretty interesting things happened. I was featured in the New York Times, Experience Life Magazine, The San Diego Union Tribune, and a few other media outlets. I have met some great friends and I am determined to fight a long term war against the obesity epidemic. So if you have questions about weight loss or your stuck in a mental block, feel free to e-mail me! I'm here to help!

My Interests

My greatest triumph in life is my own personal fitness. I recently lost 164lbs in the course of a year and several months. I did this without weight loss surgery or "magic pills." and proved it can still be done with diet and exercise. After watching the film Super Size Me in 2005, I started following a Vegan diet the next day! I still continue to eat the same way to this very day. For those of you that don't know, a vegan diet does not allow any type of animal consumption. If you would like to ask questions about health, diet,or kettlebells please feel free to send me a message or an e-mail and I will be more than glad to help. I am not a doctor or dietician. The info I share is not to be taken as medical advice. I can only share with you what I have done for my own weight loss success. The information I provide is for informational purposes only. If you choose to try anything I have shared with you regarding my own weight loss success, you are doing so at your own risk. Always consult with your personal physician before starting any exercise or diet program.
