For years I have strived to lucid dream: that is, be aware of my dreams while within. I have come close, but my dreams are cunning, and once I become aware that I am dreaming, my dreams seek to Distract Me into forgetting I am asleep.
This profile is something of a Dream Journal, and though I cannot say I will/can log Every Single Dream, I will log those that are extremely vivid (with that may have a "cohesive" storyline of sorts), that I recall upon waking.
Another aspect of dreams I found fascinating is the Temporary Implanted False Memory. This is where the dreamer "Remembers" something of a backstory regarding the current storyline so it stays together without seemingly becoming confusing. These backstories can be a fragment or remembering another large storyline even if you never really dreamed it. It is a trick of the mind to allow the dream storyline to move forward. The same goes for suddenly appearing characters of whom one has never previously dreamed, but in the dream itself one already substantially knows the character.
I am aware of certain waking techniques that can be used to help promote lucid dreaming: I just tend to neglect to put them into practice [grin]; including but not limited to touching a door jam each time passing through, and strongly thinking/questioning of oneself (or muttering the question aloud): "Am I dreaming...?"
I do enjoy the world of dreams, and the strange whimsical nature often created within. I am also intrigued at how I react to circumstances in my dreams. While I can be annoyed, concerned (being late for something and such), I can experience strong nightmare imagery and yet merely go with its flow. I have been shot, stabbed, attacked, yet never really experience any sort of fear in my dreams. Generally if a dream character goes to shoot me, I do do my best to get th'heck out of the way, but I can feel the bullet slamming into me, tearing through flesh and tissue. There is never any pain or discomfort, though I know I've been shot. My general thought is usually a slightly miffed thought of, "I wasn't quick enough [to get out of the way]...."
I also endevour to astral project, but to date have not yet succeeded (though it is theorized that dreams [particularly vivid dreams] in fact are astral projections, to another plane of existance). I can visualize (pathworkings/guided meditations), but this is virtual astral projectiong. Not quite th'same thing.
Once years ago I found myself in a half-dream state, and while aware my physical body was on the bed, my left arm began to lift at the elbow... while the physical arm remained on the bed. Possibly my surprise is why it snapped back.
