Shannon "Fat Shan" Houchins started as a staff producer for SoSo Def Productions working several years under the tutelage of Super-Producer Jermaine Dupri. At SoSo Def, Shannon produced for such artists as TLC, Usher, Jagged Edge and more. Soon Shan ventured out creating his own company 11th Hour Entertainment with partner Doug Kaye. 11th Hours first artist, Bubba Sparxxx, ignited a major industry bidding war, with the project eventually landing at Interscope Records. Soon a marketing deal was reached with Timbalands Beat Club Records and Shan began to work hand in hand with yet another Super Producer (Timbaland) both producing and executive producing the album Dark Days, Bright Nights.
Shan has either produced, engineered or managed many name recording artists (see discography) but his strength is finding ways to establish marketing niches and networking between labels, artists, and producers to create the best end product and results. These skills led Houchins to form his own entertainment consulting firm specializing in connecting artists, labels, producers, promoters, and more. The company specializes in new business development, niche marketing, branding and positioning. Clients depend on Houchins for all phases of strategic business planning from conceptualization to implementation.
