Hanging out and being domestic with my girlfriend (or "living in sin" if you're a Republican), cooking, reading, writing, NOT 'rithmetic, sushi, dark chocolate, red wine, looking things up on the Internet then acting like I knew them all along, pondering thinking about coming up with a concept for some backyard landscaping, trying to maintain at least 2 stain-free shirts, remix/mod/custom culture, sexology, adding the suffix "ology" to words to appear academic rather than creepy/pervy, Guitar Hero, providing running commentary and theme music to the movie that is my life.
I'd like to meet:
This profile no longer exists.
Music:
I love 1960s-70s funk, soul, R-n-B, psychedelia, or any combination thereof. Late 50s to early 60s jazz. 1980s to mid-90s hip hop. Mashups/ bootlegs/ bastard pop. Lotsa stuff. If it's the real deal of any genre, I'll give it a listen.
Movies:
All those ones I watched in film school and wrote essays about why they were important and stuff. Ya know, Jean-Luc Picard, Andre Presson and all those dudes.
Television:
The Simpsons, Gilmore Girls, The Office, My Name is Earl, Extras, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Entourage, Flight of the Conchords, Weeds, South Park, SeaLab 2021, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Harvey Birdman, Squidbillies, American Dad, The Daily Show, The Colbert Report, Late Night with Conan O'Brien, Lucky Louie, Sarah Silverman Program, Arrested Development, Seinfeld, Mr. Show with Bob and David, Futurama, The Young Ones, Monty Python's Flying Circus, AbFab. Fuckin' A, I should probably read more books, huh?
Books:
Just finished "The Perks of Being A Wallflower" by Stephen Chbosky; now reading "Pieces," a book of short stories he edited. Some other authors I consistently dig, dug, or will have had having dugged: David Sedaris, Nick Hornby, Augusten Burroughs, Michael Chabon, Jerry Stahl. And I used to love those "Encyclopedia Brown" books when I was a kid, so if we hang out, be prepared for me to blame things on Bugs Meany or say things like, "HOW DID JIM KNOW THIS PARTY WAS GOING TO SUCK BALLS? (see p. 117 for answer)"
Heroes:
Joseph Campbell, Marcel Duchamp, Andy Kaufman, Herbert Kornfeld, Beta-7, The Big Man Upstairs. Oh wait, I think that's just a squirrel trapped in my attic. Still pretty damn inspiring if you ask me, though.
