BackRoomSounds is Sam Gibbons born in Todmorden in the North of England and has been Djing for 8 years and producing for 5 years.
Sam has a lust for all quality music, Soulful House in particular came to the fore after discovering the now legendary Out In The Sticks night at the Blue Note Todmorden (RIP). With varied influences from Louis Armstrong to Chet Atkins, Radio Head to Joey Beltram, Stevie Wonder to Jimmy Smith, Chic to Bob James, MAW to UPB, “anything good†as Sam puts it is in the bag.
Expect quality tunes from Sam’s DJ sets always making an effort to work things in, a firm believer in playing to the mood and time of day expect a programmed set whether it be early vibes or bash um on the floor at 3am.
2006 saw the best results yet for BackRoomSounds productions P-funkateers – Final Fling on Look At You Records (US) a co – production with friend Nick Moss (Groove Assassin) had been one of the big tunes of 2005 and was picked up by non other than Defected Records for their very cool ITH Miami 06 compilation. February saw BackRoomSounds – Deep Inside released on newcomer Soultonic Records which had a part 2 release with mixes from legend Charles Dockins in March. After a release with Soulfuric sister label Device in 2004 with BRS - Northern Soul, Sam teamed up with the nice American’s once more with BRS – Too Late released on Soulfuric Deep in July 06. The track was signed up to two compilations even before its release with Purple Music and Kinky Sweets After Dark Miami compliations. After a successful 2006 Sam’s hoping to get things really moving in 2007 with many varied productions in progress. .
