"The Darkside of Shred"

About Me

Twenty-eight year guitar veteran, I started playing at age 6. My love for classical music and exposure to guitar icons, such as Ritchie Blackmore and Tony Iommi, fueled my passion to play. Over the next several years, I was inspired by other greats; Andy LaRocque, Malmsteen, Vinnie Moore, and Joe Satriani to name only a few. With these influences, my dedication to the guitar became a way of life. As an artist, I use old horror movies and pictures from Hollywoods past as a muse for my work. Since I was a young boy, I was extremely influenced by actors such as Bela Lugosi,Vincent Price, and Boris Karloff. Their movies and roles pierced my imagination and is what drives the engine of creativity for my songs. As early as age 10, I started playing in a number of bands ranging from 80s Metal to Black Metal. In 1992, I joined Fatality, a local Death Metal band, as a permanent member. The bands rising popularity had us sharing the stage with national acts such as Fear of God, Incantation, Obituary, and OverKill. Our music hit charts worldwide and praised reviews flooded back. Seven years later, while struggling in a dying Pittsburgh music scene and band member inconsistency, we decided to part ways.In the summer of 2001, I paired up with a bassist to create Infernal Soul. The project showed much success and was licensed to Moria Records, Brazil and South America. Due to other commitments, all future endeavors will be under my name, George Sabol. The cd, Nocturnal Overture, which contains five (5) songs and a multi-media music video, is a statement of versatility and musicianship. Theatrical movements with dark passages and haunting melodies separate my style from other instrumentalists. In June of 2004, I was offered a spot on the Black Sabbath tribute album entitled, Evil Lives, a True Metal Tribute to Black Sabbath, released by Cleopatra records. I was the sole guitarist for the project band, Funeral Wine, who is now Icarus Witch. This release showcased my playing along with Primal Fear, Jag Panzer, George Lynch of Dokken, and Vince Neil of Motley Crue. Not wanting to lose sight of my career as an instrumental guitarist, I parted from Icarus Witch shortly after the CDs release in the summer of 2004.In October of 2004, I released my first gothic, orchestrated CD entitled, Eternal Darkness. A spectral soundscape created to evoke the essence of Halloween and everything ghastly. Many famous Amusement parks and Haunted Attractions distributed this release for their Halloween season. With the success of this release, proceeds benefit local animal shelters. At the present, I am a renowned guitar instructor in the Pittsburgh tri-state area and a columnist for a widely distributed city music publication. In addition to my releases, Ive done work for numerous radio/television commercial spots. In the near future, I will be releasing an instructional DVD on advanced techniques for the guitar. This year I will be releasing my next instrumental guitar album, Vamp 442, along with another gothic soundscape. My ultimate desire is to expand my music to a vast audience and influence a new generation of talent.
