About Me

2008 is already turning out to be a banner year for Award winning action film director Art Camacho. In February Camacho signed a multipicture deal with Shoreline motion pictures. THe first film he'll direct will be an MMA feature film called "Tap Out",(working title). It will be one of the true MMA films out there dealing with a team of misfit fighters with a lot of heart who go against a far superior team of fighters in a newly formed "Fight League". The Producer's will use real fighters as well as known actors in the feature film. In August of this year Lionsgate will release the long awaited "Confessions of a Pit fighter". Camacho will also step into the producer's shoes on projects slated for later this year. This comes off the heels of a successful 2007 with 2 releases (Sony/Lionsgate). In 2007 Camacho was also featured on the cover of Canada's prestigious "Martial Arts Experts" magazine ( A big thanks to Tyson). “Confessions of a Pit Fighter” is a script co-written by him (based on a true story). On "Confessions" Camacho pulled quadruple duty as Director, Co-Producer, Co-writer, and Action Coordinator. “Confessions”, stars an eclectic group of actors including Armand Assante, (Two for the Money) Renowned rapper Flavor Flav, Emmy award nominee John Savage, and James Russo (Open Range). It is a drama intertwined with realistic gritty Pit fights. For more of Art Camacho's credits go to IMDB.com.Camacho grew up in a rough barrio in South East Los Angeles county. He always getting into trouble and one night he got beat up by rival gangbangers and that is what drove him into the martial arts, Wun Hop Kuen Do, in particular. Camacho eventually dropped out of high school and drifted around for awhile. According to Camacho "Even though I'm a high school drop out, I have the drive, tenacity, street smarts and passion to pursue a career in films. I've gotten several breaks in my life and have taken advantage of most of them." Having carved out a career in action films, Camacho was dubbed "The fight master" by a leading martial arts publication for the many films he choreographed before he went on to direct feature films. He has been featured in "Black Belt magazine", "Inside Kung Fu", "Karate International", and "Cinturon Negro" and been featured in cover stories on "Masters and Styles, "Secrets of the Masters" and "Martial Arts Illustrated". L.A.'s Spanish Language Newspaper "La Opinion” did several stories on him . Camacho has also been featured in "Hola Los Angeles" "Despierta America", "CONTROL" and "Latin Nation" and was the recipient of the “The Outstanding Director of the Year” award from the Action on film, film festival in 2005/2006."If I've learned anything in this career that chose me, is that with enough faith in God, thick skin, perseverance and a lot of "passion for the art", you can succeed. You might not play in the big leagues but you'll play nevertheless." Art Camacho FilmographyI edited my profile with Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.4
