Shawn Baltazor

Drummer Shawn Baltazor received his B.M. from William Paterson University, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude. He has studied with Peter Jarvis, Kevin Norton, Tyshawn Sorey, Rich De Rosa, Bill Goodwin, Dan Weiss and Nasheet Waits. Shawn has performed internationally at the Festival International des Musiques Noires d’Abidjan in Cote d’Ivoire, and the Jazzablanca festival in Morocco. He has performed at such NY venues as Jazz at Lincoln Center's: Dizzy's Club Coca-Cola, Sweet Rhythm, 55 Bar, Knitting Factory, and the Bitter End.In 2004, Shawn was chosen to attend the Staens Institute for Young Artists where he worked with Danilo Perez, Rufus Reid, James Moody, and Dr. David Baker. There he performed at the 100th anniversary of the Ravinia Festival in Chicago.Currently Shawn plays with Flux (a collaboration with Saxophonist Roxy Coss), Ergo, Nathan Eklund Group, Adam Gilbert, Acantha Lang, and Rebecca Frezza.
