Umm... Just trying to figure it all out.
In the meantime, I am now playing with the band, ONE CYLINDER. We's a boogaloo band. Erik Mekkelson - Tenor Sax, Nick Rossi - Guitar, Vince Voelz - Organ, Chris Lujan - Drums.
Wikipedia defines Boogaloo as "a genre of Latin music and dance that was very popular in the United States in the late 1960s. Boogaloo originated in New York City among teenage Cubans and Puerto Ricans. The style was a fusion of popular African American R&B, rock and roll and soul with mambo and son montuno. Boogaloo entered the mainstream through the American Bandstand television program."
To simplify that, I like to think of it as 60s Jazz heavily influenced by the sound that James Brown was putting out with some Bossa Nova thrown in. Come check us out when you can.
