PRODUCER / RECORDING ENGINEER...etc....

About Me

************************************************************ *** I am a producer/recording engineer based in Toronto and Central Ontario. I've been in the music biz for over twenty years, initially as a musician, then making the transition to the studio in the late 80's. I owned my own studio back in the late 80's - early 90's and freelanced at several studios around Toronto, York Region and Barrie after that. I've had the fortune of being awarded ten gold/platinum albums...so far. For the past eight years I had been senior engineer at Phase One Studios. I'm presently behind the controls of a new studio at Lenz Entertainment working on several music, film and TV projects. We've put together a fantastic studio based around a full Protools HD system and a SSL AWS-900+ console, Genelec speakers, Universal Audio and Drawmer mic pre's, Universal Audio 2192 converter, Waves "Platinum" and McDSP plug-ins, TC Electronics reverb and a grand piano. I've engineered sessions for The Trews, Bono, Nelly Furtado, Hilary Duff, Rush, "Song For Africa", Big Sugar, Kardinal Offishal, Ludacris, Leahy, Jann Arden, George Canyon, Sass Jordan, Anne Murray, Jesse Cook, Natalie MacMaster, Michelle Wright, Olivia Newton John, Simon Wilcox, Billy Ray Cyrus, Engelbert Humperdinck, Amy Sky, Men With Brooms Soundtrack, Atomic Betty Soundtrack, Canadian Idol, Caroline Neron, Edge City Outlaws, Somerset Entertainment, G.Q., Xquisite, Red Grammer and many more. As a producer I have worked with Peter Murray, The Rails, Bluestone Band, The New Black, The Itch, Lifted, Big Beat Collective, Steve Middleton, Kirk Elliott, Aiti Maa, Pup, In Blue River and others. Other great artists I've recorded and/or mixed recently are; Belle Phoenix, Wooden Stars, Dawn Langstroth, St. Eves, Super Stack, Adam Crossley, Face2Face, Justin Hines, Annie Marleau, Andy Carey, Aaron Garner, Zoe Bentley, On Switch, Special Ed, Cherry, Nine Point Landing, Smith & Dragoman, Adam Simson, Michael Holt, George Evans, Matt Dean, Lickpenny Loafer and Darcy Lynne Ward. TV credits include; Little Mosque On The Prairie, Wildcard, Canadian Country Music Awards, CBC's The Hour, Train 48, Atomic Betty and most recently I have been recording and mixing the soundtrack for an upcoming movie based on the life of Celine Dion whch will air later in 2007. ************************************************************ *** I have also worked with, and learned from, some of the best record producers in the biz; Jack Douglas (John Lennon, Aerosmith, The Who, Cheap Trick), David Leonard (Prince, John Cougar Mellencamp, Paul McCartney, Collective Soul), Joe Chiccarelli (Elton John, Frank Zappa), Frank Filipetti (Hole-"Celebrity Skin", Barbra Streisand, James Taylor, 10,000 Maniacs), Russ Zavitson (The Wilkinsons, The Kinleys) Tommy West (Anne Murray, Jim Croce), Mark Plati (David Bowie, Prince), Gilles Godard (Curb Music Publishing-Nashville), Rhett Lawrence (Mariah Carey, Kelly Clarkson, Michael Jackson), Lauren Wild (Carly Simon, Rod Stewart) as well as Gordie Johnson, J.K. I was the mix engineer for that project. The Cd will be released nationally in Canada on April 10th on the Sonic Unyon label and will be released in the U.S. on May 11th. (The previous song on my profile was "Song For Africa" which I recorded & mixed. It peaked at number two - week ending Sept. 7th 06 on the Canadian-Soundscan singles chart....also heard was "Yearning" by the Trews, attaining gold sales status and producing 4 top ten singles) I will be changing my profile song every once in awhile. It'll alway be from a project I worked on.********************************************************* *****For a more complete discography and bio visit my page on the Phase One website.http://www.phaseonestudios.com/PHASE_ONE_WEBSITE/sta ff/michael.htmlor have a look here.http://www.artistdirect.com/nad/music/artist/appears/0, ,1038932,00.html******************************************** ****************** I edited my profile with Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.4
