No doubt a class act, Gia has worked with the music industries finest. Her track record includes singing in studio sessions with Motown legend producer-writer Norman Whitfield, as well as the prolific producer-writer and singer Leon Ware, where she appears with him on his CD "A Taste of Love" on the song "Telepathy" as well as in ambient embellishments throughout the CD. Not to mention L.A.'s very own Chuckii Booker, from the group Tease, who co-produced "Three Times for Love" and "Set Me on Fire", two songs she's written. Her song-writing repertoire includes "Candy Sweet" and "100 Milez", a collaboration with musician/producers Richard Dennis and L.T. Stone, just to name a few. She has traveled the world with the 'musical gift of the world' group The Platters, featuring the late Curtis Bridgeforth, a friend's friend with impeccable vocal style, sounding very close to the vocals of the original Platters lead singer Tony. This group was groomed by the original members Paul Robi and Zola Taylor, "the Platters dish" whom Gia has emulated on stage since 1995. In addition, she is dropping vocals and writing lyrics with West Coast hip-hop/rap artists and brothers Reuben (aka "The Joker") a rapper and rhyme-sayer, and Simeon (aka "Doc Heaven"), a beat Meister extraodinaire, and flavorful musician and producer Mike aka "Bliss" who are quickly making a name for themselves in the Northwest Tacoma/Seattle area, in a collaboration with Hadez Inc. and Mobb Music. With Heaven, also a masterful producer, she is developing her "groovessence" sound, which is a blend of DnB, Downtempo, ambient and nu-jazz.On the international scene, Gia has recorded with German recording artist-writer Lanoo (Christian Anders), and the late Indian sitarist Rahul Sariputra, as well as Eccolab and Vibez on the Drum and Bass scene. Gia is currently collaborating with innovative producers, musicians and independent labels, who's talents reflect the intricacies of the music which set her apart from the industries run of the mill sounds. A devotee of Eastern philosophy, she also leads a Kirtan-devotional music and chant group in Portland, Oregon and chants with Sai Baba organization, Krishna Consciousness Movement and other spiritual Bhakti Yoga groups. Gia is a student of Trika (Kundalini) Yoga and Vipassana meditation, lineage of Bhagavan Nityananda of Ganeshpuri, India. as well as a devotee of both Srila Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada and Srila Bhaktivedanta Narayana Maharaja. Gia is also a talented and trained Vaidya - practitioner and teacher of Ayurveda - the Science of Life and Longevity.Though influenced by many colors of the spectrum, Gia von Karl remains an entity on to her own. Whether drowning in soul-searching melodies or chasing butterflies over rainbows, she comes from the heart and how refreshing it is! Says Gia, "I've always believed that music is a powerful force that can influence people in all parts of the world and from all walks of life and my main objective is to offer something of myself, something timeless, valuable and memorable".
