About Me

Johnny P was raised in Phoenix, AZ. Realizing at the young age of 31 (ha ha) his brain was melting from the 120 degree heat, he moved to Prescott, AZ. Johnny grew up listening to bands like The Violet Burning, The Choir, 77’s, The Swoon, Peter Murphy, and U2. Johnny started playing piano at the age of 5 and performed his first composition at the age of 6.

Johnny has played in several bands including The SkinFlowerS, Poor Kids Without Cable and No Laughing Matter. He has opened for artists such as P.O.D., MXPX, The Choir, MATD, Fine China, The Violet Burning, Lost Dogs, and many others.

Johnny’s musical focus is on his songwriting and vocal abilities. He has been compared to everyone from Peter Murphy to Billy Idol to Billy Corgan.

- “My influences are all over the place. I don’t have one style I listen to and I think it shows in my songs”. “I’ll give everything a chance as long as it’s not country or Jazz”. “I hope my music will affect just one person in a positive way”. “If that has occurred I have successfully done my job”.

Johnny has 12 songs and will be putting a “Best of” album out in the near future. This will include songs from his older bands as well as some new material. This album will include “Telephone Song” which spent 6 weeks at the number one spot on Mp3.Com. Not too bad for a website which had over 2 million songs in rotation. The album will also include favorites “I Know A Girl”, “ the haunting songs “Anything” and “Cliff” and several other favorites which have been highly respected over the years.

Stay tuned for a johnnyprescott.com website, his greatest hits CD and a concert near you! We will keep you posted as more detail become available.

- “Thanks for supporting and sticking with me through all these years.”… Johnny P
