About Me

The Cassini Division was formed in 2003 by James, Simon and Mark in their home town of Broxbourne. James and Mark developed their musicianship in previous band Childplant between 2000 and 2003 and Simon has been classically trained at Westminster Abbey Choir School and Haileybury respectively, earning 4 grade 8s at distinction on various instruments and recently getting a 1st class honours music degree from KCL. We hand picked our bass player and drummer after extensive auditioning and both have a variety of experience. James Turrell plays in a popular band based in Warwick called The Carter Manoeuvre and Colin has recently been on MTV2 with his other band Members Of Me. The band was formed with the intent of using abstract time signatures in a popular context. We pride ourselves on a modern and rhythmically diverse sound modelled on Tool while maintaining the radio-friendly concept popularised by A Perfect Circle. We have spent five years writing material for the group and have two complete albums finished. We have played several successful gigs so far managing to competently reiterate the complexity of our songs live. We are currently looking for interest from sponsors and record labels.
