Young Blaze(a.k.a. Maurice Dawan Clopton) was born June 12, 1985 on the South Side Of Chicago. As a child, Blaze was surrounded with music hearing the rhythms of his father's saxophone combined with his mother's voice as lead singer for a local band. As he grew up, Blaze took an interest in music listening to rap acts like Bone Thugs "N" Harmony, 2pac and Notorious B.I.G. It took a hit song by Jay Z entitled "Money Cash H*e's" for Blaze to eventually take a deeper interest in rap music. When Blaze went to the Jay Z Hard Knock Life concert with some of his friends, he was overwhelmed with the crowd's reaction. While everyone around him bounced with the music, Blaze found himself standing there thinking " Wow, look at the hype reaction the crowd gives Jay Z for every song!" instantly Blaze thought "He can do this!" and decided to pursue a music career. From then on it seemed Blaze's real talent in life was music, but as time progressed coming up on the south side of chicago which is considered the more rougher side of chicago,Blaze found himself off track, wrapped up in peer pressure, violence and other misleading activites. Attracted to the idea of fast cash he found himself caught up in hustling and hanging out with what he calls "the wrong crowd".It wasn't until he sat down for a long talk with one of his mothers' friends from church, who also reconzied that blaze was extremely talented who then talked to him about the right choices to make and the wrong choices to make, Blaze realized he was quickly headed down the wrong path. In late 2003 Blaze hooked up with a local manager who seemed to be interested in what he was doing at the time, but the relationship didn't last long. Blaze started booking his own shows at clubs like The House Of Blues, Mrs. Camils, Pandamonium, and the Red Light. Rappers today think one dimensional, meaning if a rapper displays himself as a thug most of the time he is viewed as a thug 24/7 Blaze feels that there are times when a listener wants to see different sides of you; hear your different views, and how you might handle a situation concerning other life issues? He thinks it's cool to rap and tell people you're a "thug", a "pimp" or a "gangsta", but that's not how you would feel on an everyday basis. Blaze looks at his music as his way of showing people different types of feelings from time to time... music that can be heard and related to all kinds of issues and in all sorts of situations. Bottom line when you think about it, Blaze's music is kind of the
