David Truong (born August 17, 1992), better known by his stage name The Infamous, is a 16 year old writer/rap artist. Born in Bloomington, Minnesota, he is Cambodian and Chinese. David is currently attending high school for his senior year. As he was growing up, David was influenced by many known artists such as The Game, Eminem, Lil Wayne, and T.I. just to name a few. He grew up witnessing many family issues and struggled to deal with it. He then turned to writing. David started writing poems and found out it helped him relieve the stress. He wasn't introduced to rap till the 7th grade. When asked to write and present a poem in front of a class, David spoke and acted out one of his poems about his life. With his presentation, he found himself in the top 5 poets of his class. With this accomplishment he wanted to step up to another level. A friend of his introduced him to rapping and studio recording. At first David had troubles, he found himself not making much progress with his early days as "Dmac", but yet that didn't stop him. He decided to started over, with a new rap name which you all know now "The Infamous".
As his fame grew, more opstacles occurred. He faced many other rap artists that had hatred towards his music. Leaving him not very confident about his music and what he was doing. Not knowing what would happen if he continued, Infamous decided not to quit. His goal was to be one of the most talked about Asian rappers and to be known throughout the U.S. better yet, the world. He witnesses many Asian artists on the net boardcasting themselves on youtube rapping, and it inspires him to one day make an impact in the music industry.
I see myself as just another person you see on the streets. Everybody has a dream and I'm just pursuing mine. I don't want to be known as the "best" but an influence to others. If you work hard enough, each step gets easier. I want to be noticed for my lyrical talents and how much I put into my music. I don't rap just for fun, no, it's not a hobby, I will one day reach to the top and make it in this industry. I came into this race, prepared, I have a goal set, a loving family who supports me, a sister who always has my back, and a girlfriend who encourages me. You can hate my music, but I thank you for listening.
