Third Eye was formed in Odense in March 2003. It all started when Michael Bodin saw a lot of potential in some young musicians, who just happened to be his students at the time. He decided to ask Martin Damgaard (who he already played with in Sweet Leaf), Thomas Kuhlmann, Andreas Schumann and Rasmus Kostending if they would like to be part of a project. After playing a couple of his songs (which he had written almost ten years before) they all agreed. Third Eye was born! When they had spend most of the year making music, they went to the studio to record the eight songs they had so far. This would prove to be a chaotic ride. The recordings did not go as planned and the problems were just popping up all the time. Meanwhile the band had been looking for a lead singer, and after a couple of auditions with various singers, they were contacted by Casper Greiff, who had heard some of the songs on the internet. After rehearsing with him a couple of times they headed for the studio to record vocals on some of the tracks. This went pretty good, so Casper was invited to be the lead singer in the band. The band played live for their first time as a band at a small youth festival in December 2004. Shortly after that, they compeeded against a lot of other danish metal bands in the Danish Metal Grand Prix 2005. This went very well in the first round. There was to be picked two bands from every big city. The audience would pick one, and a handful of judges would pick the other. Third Eye won both the audience and the judges and were off to the finals! The following year they played live all over the country and got a lot of very good reviews. They then decided to go to the studio once more and record a two-song demo. It certantly went better than the first time. Only the vocals wasn`t quite good enough. The reviews on the demo were both good and bad. But the band didn`t really feel like they had done their best, so the next step was to record a full length album. After playing a gig in Copenhagen in the beginning of `07 it was decided that Casper wasn`t giving it his best. He was lacking interest and there clearly was a disagreement on where the band was heading (towards a heavier sound), and so the singer was released from his duties. In the year that followed a lot of different singers auditioned for the band, but none were quite good enough. Then suddenly Michael was visiting an old friend (Finn Zierler from Beyond Twilight) and he recomended a singer called Per Johansson. Per had been involved with many different bands through out the years, including Fate and Ureas, and was very interested in Third Eye it seemed. The band then recorded a couple of their latest tracks at rehearsals one day and sent them to Per. After a while they received the songs with vocals, and were totally blown away. This was the singer they had been looking for! Per was in the band emediatly!Third Eye will begin the recordings of their debut album in March 2008, stronger than ever! - and this should really be worth waiting for.
