SKYLAX RECORDS

About Me

DJ / LABEL MANAGER / PRODUCER : Hardrock Striker has been a vital player in the electronic music scene since 10 years, he has been dj-ing for the past 8 years. He began his career at 14 years old when he was dj-ing at friends parties, his influences goes from THE STOOGES, VELVET UNDERGROUND, MC5, BAUHAUS, DERRICK MAY, KRAFTWERK, TALKING HEADS, GEORGIO MORODER, TRAX, THE CLASH, KEVIN SAUNDERSON and also many electro bands such as DEPECHE MODE, NEW ORDER, CABARET VOLTAIRE, ERASURE, THE THE, SOFT CELL.Indeed, it all started when he discovered he had an affair with LA’s electronic scene 7 years ago while he was setting-up a business with his long time friend & “underground legend” PETER BLACK.In 2000, They decided to create a record company PARISONIC RECORDS because as artists they wanted to be able to licence music from respected artists and to produce their own new material.Quickly, with the release of the massive worldwide hit remix of “ELECTRIC AVENUE” by Eddy Grant in 2001 (thanks to the PETER BLACK REMIX), the name of the company became known from a wider audience and by most of the key people in the industry. They signed what is still considered today as the most important recording contract for a remix. The licence of “Electric Avenue” to East West/ Warner UK realised the massive comeback of Eddy Grant. In June 2001, the estimated sales were over 1 000 000 copies (including all supports). In 2003, he lauched the SQUARE ROOTS re-issue series which initiated this Acid-House re-issue wave (that still on today !) including great names such as Franckie Knuckles, Ralphi Rosario, Kleeer, Mickey Oliver, Steve Poindexter, Lidell Townsell. In 2004, he decided to launch a brand new label SKYLAX RECORDS where this time, he could really develop his name as a Dj / Producer and label manager. The label and his productions under the moniker HARDROCK STRIKER began to get support & respect from great names such as M.A.N.D.Y, Playhouse, Trevor Jackson (Output), Dj T (Get Physical), Erol Alkan, The glimmers, Dirty Dancing Crew, In Flagranti (Codek Records), Tekel (Initial Cuts), Kiki, Freaks, Swag, Munk (Gomma), Dj Morpheus (Tigersushi), Headman (Relish), Tiefschwarz (Fine) ect…His style is described as a blend of italo-disco, acid-house, electro and disco not disco. Also, as HARDROCK STRIKER, he has now the freedom to record strictly instrumentals or Original Rock tracks melted with his electro / techno influences where he can develop his own ability as a singer / songwriter / composer. He played regularly in Parisian clubs such as Batofar, Tryptique, Fleche d'or, rex, in Cannes and Saint-tropez and of course regularly in LA where he meets again his friends Peter Black and all the Wax Connection behind the Decks.2005 has seen him remixed some of music industries most respected artists such as Howard Jones for the retro-future compilation on Warner US (feat. Richard X, Tiga, Crystal Method, Adam Freelan..…), Martin Circus, Kate Bush, B movie, John Foxx, the white stripes, AG DITC, Fisherspooner, Mr Fingers, Denise Motto, Freddie Mas…Moreover, his single “CONTROL” featuring original unreleased Joy Division lyrics placed over fresh music has been celebrated by french cult Magazine “les inrockutptibles” and by some legendary UK rock critics. In 2006, he has been working on some italo-disco remixes, re-issuing old tracks from his favorite heroes (M & G, Tony Sylvester) to give them a new birth and make it available for the young generation as he always tried to feed the underground with timeless tracks that djs can still keep and play. Indeed, He has always been conisdered as a link between the past and the future.2007 has seen him launching amazing parties all around PARIS, at the triptyque, batofar, fleche d'or & the Rex. The names COSMIC CLUB, SKYLAX PARTY & KICK OUT THE 12'S have been praised by clubbers and gets a lot of promotion through radio (NOVA), Magazines (Les inrocks, Trax ect...) and e-zines.Indeed, the most interesting project in the works is the release of the 1st SKYLAX CD COMPILATION "KICK OUT THE 12'S" whose got some amazing reviews in top music mag such as Les Inrockuptibles, Trax, M8 (UK).The future starts here.
