Named after a challenging, yet inspirational overnight drive from Berlin to Frankfurt to catch a flight home, Headinghome began as a concept party in 2001. Lillyanne & Hawkeye collaborated with a few colleagues, including photographers, DJs and graphic designers, to transform a venue, for one night, into something special. Invite design, location, DJs, sound system, lighting, projections and hospitality were all things of great importance.
Headinghome has evolved and yet it has maintained the same concept as the first party. It was a Wednesday night weekly club for two years, where DJ Lillyanne and Hawkeye invited special guest DJs and live performers to the intimate Hollywood Canteen. It is a one-off event held at numerous locations throughout the year, including undisclosed downtown LA warehouses, local bars and even the Queen Mary ship in Long Beach. It is also an independent record label that has gained a strong following with its unique and variable sound. It is evident, when looking at the their design work, listening to their latest podcast or mix, browsing their web sites and experiencing any of their events, that over the years, the city of angels is a constant source of inspiration.
Lillyanne & Hawkeye have co-hosted events with other musical supporters. They have worked with Sarcastic Clothing to present the HeadRoom and Smoggy Daze parties. DJ Harvey, Daniel Wang and Theo Parrish were all special guests of these musically memorable events. They also invited musical host David Mancuso to Los Angeles to present his legendary New York dance party, The Loft. The Loft - Los Angeles has now become annual event celebrating music and life every Labor Day weekend.
They have built a steady following of future funk connoisseurs, devoted fans of their intoxicating mix of deep, dubby house, dirty, leftfield disco, midtempo techno, and moody, lo-fi funk. Lillyanne & Hawkeye have DJed all over the world in such distant locations as Japan, Germany and Mexico. You can catch this duo playing the sounds that move them throughout the southern west coast, their monthly residency in the second room of Vanguard in Hollywood and their own Headinghome and Futurehouse parties.
Lillyanne (Hotlips) is one-half of production groups Broken Rule and Hotlips & Hawkeye and has released several CDs for the annual summer kickoff party, Futurehouse. Look out for her mixed compilation due out on Headinghome in Spring 2007.
