I am here for Friends

About Me

I am a raging optimist. I am a big mess of contradictions. My head and my heart rarely agree. I have a favorite everything. I am horrible at telling jokes. I'm not good at any one particular thing. I like colors. I hope someday to believe in the paranormal. I'm scared of Bloody Mary. I'm clumsy. Sarcasm is my favorite form of communication. I enjoy working in gas stations. I'm a sucker for gentlemanly behavior and cheezy behavior. One thing that bothers me the most is nail biting. It makes my skin crawl. Same with the sound of a vacuum unless I'm the one vacuuming. I rarely can make up my mind because I love everything and hate everything.

My Interests

Kids, baseball, music, books, football, periwinkle, snow, stars, scrapbooking, Venus, x-treme sports, laffy taffy, hair dye, gentlemen, Christmas music, cults, daisies, redheads, cotton candy, glue sticks, cheezy behavior, Medieval Times, walks, cuddling, words that look odd when written, greek mythology, most any greek writing for that matter, shag carpet, shiny things, reality TV, cross stitching, plays, curiousity, Coca-Cola preferably the kind with the cherry syrup in it, worms, pens that write in green, tulips, and Frank Sinatra. Golf, people and animal abusers, goldenrod, ignorance, excessive swearing, scissors, loud music in little cars, extremists, rudeness, negativity, brown eyes, red lipstick, math, earwigs, rough toilet paper, James Patterson and any of those horrible writers who can pop out a piece of crap once a month, soap operas, overly crowded places, ladders, obnoxious drunks, socks and sandals, boys that wear big necklaces, uncomfy pillows, paper cuts, french manicures, and drama.

I'd like to meet:

Mark Grace, people who have been abducted by aliens (or think they have), Steve Buscemi, a zoo keeper, Anne Rice, a rock collector, Bret Hart, a necromancer, Hugh Laurie, a hypocondriac, Michael J. Fox, a plumber, and Jimmy Carter.

Music:

First of all I love unsigned artists. Just guys and gals playing where they can, when they can. Somehow it seems like they're the true musicians. I like a lot of other "popular" bands also. I just can't bring myself to list them.

Movies:

Sweeney Todd, Drop Dead Fred, O brother, where art thou?, Apollo 13, How the Grinch stole Christmas, The last time I committed suicide, Never been kissed, Pieces of April, Clue, Wizard of Oz, plus the bunch of other really good movies that I've seen.

Television:

Baseball, cartoons, football, House, reality shows (The Bachelor/Bachelorette, Beauty and the Geek, The Amazing Race, American Idol), most PBS programming, medical mystery type stuff, Everybody loves Raymond, Hell's Kitchen, Kitchen Nightmares, infomercials, and game shows.

Books:

The Odyssey, All of anything by Anne Rice, 1984, The Great and Secret Show, Beowulf, The Theban Plays, Early Stephen King, Any of Dan Brown and stuff like that, Greek mythology, anything I've read from Hunter S. Thompson so far, On the Road, Nausea, Brave New World, One flew over the cuckoo's nest, Lady Chatterley's lover, Varney the Vampyre, The Trial, and many, many more.

Heroes:

My grandma. She was the best. I learned all about life from her. I didn't realize it when I was young, but now that I'm old, it all makes sense. She knew that homemade cookies and a glass of milk could clear away life's problems, that it would rain out if a child didn't finish their dinner, that playing ball in the house was okay as long as it wasn't a bouncy ball, that the knowledge of sewing on a button makes you a very valuable asset to someone who doesn't know how to sew, and that any berry that grows on a tree can make a great jam if enough sugar is added.

My Blog

Sometimes the media fools me

I have taken a special interest in the overtaking of the polygamist sect in Elderado, Texas.  I have always been fascinated by the cult mentality.  Maybe Warren Jeffs isn't a cult leader.&nb...

Mother nature is funny.

So sometimes I have a caffeine problem and can't sleep.  Dumb me got a Mountain Dew with dinner last night, so I didn't fall asleep until like 3 something this morning.  I don't know how lon...

I need to be enlightened

Since Landon was born, I have been on a mission to find out what causes cowlicks.  If you look at this poor kid, he's got a cowlick that is a full circle right on the front of his head.  As ...

What a funny day!

So this morning I woke up feeling weird.  I'm pretty sure it's that weird result of taking cold medicine.  I couldn't remember where I was.  Then I got up and felt good.  Like that...

It’s that time of the year again...

Right about this time of the year I always feel myself transforming.  Not like I go through a huge change or anything, just an uplifting I suppose.  There’s a little bounce to my step,...

Bamboozled

I am currently ready to pull my hair out in large chunks.  Or maybe possibly beat my head repeatedly against a wall.  I will do neither of those things.  Instead, I will wonder why when...

I’ve never claimed to be a poet, but I like to jibber jabber.

War is a gentleman's game, a calm choosing of clubsAnd war is bowling, knocking over as many pins as possibleWith an air of competition, yet disregardYou are complemented on your shot by peers. War is...

James Taylor

This past week started the telethon things on PBS.  Usually during that time, they've got some really great programs.  Don't get me wrong, I'm an avid PBS watcher, and I prefer their shows o...
