I know I'm not supposed to admit this, but I like Hanson. So there. I revel in most that is cheesy (Madonna's new single gives me the love I had for "Into The Groove" back in the day and I do like a little silly country music now and again. "Redneck Woman," anyone? And I love love loves the bad metal) But I also believe that, now that Johnny Cash is dead, Tom Waits is the coolest man alive.
Blue Velvet, El Mariachi, Desperado, The Blues Brothers, Tommy Boy, Delicatessen, So I Married An Axe Murderer, Amalie, Lost In Translation, Ironweed, Amadeus, Elf, Reservoir Dogs, Sin City, The Curse Of The WereRabbit, The Saddest Music In The World, Billy Madison, Babe, The Aristocats, Smokey And The Bandit, Grease 2, The Good The Bad And The Ugly, Evil Dead 2, Santa Sangre...I know, I'm all over the place, it just depends on my mood. I would rather poke out my eyes and drink the juice rather than sit through Pretty Woman or Jerry McGuire. I made my friend Becky go with me to see Beverly Hills Ninja (god rest Farley's big ol' soul) and she told me that, in retaliation, if Julia Roberts and Tom Cruise ever made a romantic comedy, THAT would be the only suitable retaliation. If that ever happens we know the devil is runnin the place. shudder....
I'm pre-mourning the loss of "Passions" in Sept., loving "Heroes", can't turn away from the train wreck that is "American Idol" especially since they kicked off Sundance and left Sanjaya on (America, you are idiots), have a big crush on the coach from "Friday Night Lights", also like to watch shows on DVD: Oh, ESPN! Why did you cancel "Playmakers"?, still waiting on season 3 of "Deadwood", still like Nip/Tuck even though it's gotten a bit wierdo, gonna check out "Weeds" and "Extras"
Love John Irving and Tom Robbins, but I'll read almost anything. Bad crime fiction (Janet Evanovich, for example, though I'm pretty much over her now), some sci fi, horror (Peter Straub-shout out to fellow 'sconny-ite!), To Kill A Mockingbird, of course, a classic, The Catcher In The Rye and The Bell Jar (mostly loved by my inner angsty teen), the Moomin series by Tove Jansson (great no matter how old you are) HARRY POTTER, HARRY POTTER!, I also believe that The Old Man And The Sea is the most perfect work of fiction ever written.
Anybody who can wring a little bit of happiness out of this crazy world.
