Drumming connects us to the universe! Plug yourself in...

About Me

In the "I'd Like to Meet" section I listed several people, including Billy Cobham and Steve Gadd. Well, I have met Billy Cobham, finally! He has been one of my favorite drummers for much of my life. Billy was not only still rammin' notes and music, but he was also a very nice guy.

I have also now met Steve Gadd and had a chance to watch him play too. I didn't get to talk with him long, but he seems like a very down to earth guy who's willing to share his knowledge. In my opinion, Steve is one of the most influential drummers of our time...who hasn't been touched by his music?

Now, Peter Gabriel is VERY high on my list! I have seen Gabriel perform with Manu Katche, and Youssou N'dour, Tony Banks, Tony Levin...Man, what a band!!

Giovanni Hildalgo is the MASTER Conguero!! Check out this video by Martin Cohen of LP...thanks Martin!

This guy also has some serious chops and great sounds!! The video below shows some really great facility! Enjoy.

I would love to see New Order and Underworld.

Some of my teachers: Jim Campbell, Leigh Howard Stevens, Michael Spiro, Jim Rago, Tom Vanarsdel, Mark Tate, Rande Sanderbeck, Julie Hill. I have also had some lessons with John Bergamo, Michael Burritt, Gordon Stout, Michael Udow, Luis Conté, Kenneth Metzker and a host of other percussionists. I love sharing knowledge with students and other percussionists! I learn as much from my students as they learn from me.

Jim is an Innovative Percussion University Instructor Artist.

So I typed my name into a Vampire Naming thing for fun, and somehow, it made the connection that I love the ocean...
Your Vampire Name Is...
Prince of the Great Oceans What's Your Vampire Name?

This is hilarious! I took that "What kind of rocker are you" test and got these results:

You Are a Punk Rocker!
When it comes to rock, you don't follow any rules
You know that rocking out is all about taking down the man
You've got an incredible stage presence and rock persona
You scare moms, make bad girls (or boys) swoon, and live life on the edge! What Kind of Rocker Are You?

The funny thing is...I DO have Punk Rocker tendencies!
