I am here for Friends

About Me

Hello There! I am a 43 yr old outspoken person with a silly streak. I always seem to be looking for fun, comfort, and pleasure in life. I am one of the few people who got married as a teen and is still married---to the same spouse, lol! I have three kids, 23, 21, and 19 yrs old. They all still live at home and attend local colleges. Luckily for all of us, all my kids are a parent's dream and never got into any trouble. Probably because I was a full time mom when they were little and played with 'em alot. I'm Bipolar type 2, and have various medical problems, and have 14 yrs clean & sober. I am on permanent disability. I worked as a Veterinary Technician for 13 years and really loved it. Horses have always been my life passion, and need to make a little money to pay for my horse-habit. I have a small resale business called "Hodge Podge Resale". It's a great way to channel my love of shopping into a (hopefully) money making venture! I generally hate housecleaning and love to lay around reading and eating candy or something yummy. Reading and internet subject searches are my favorite things to do when I am kicking back. I like gardening and home improvements. I could spend hours in Home Depot and Lowes, brainstorming what my latest project will be! I have a silly streak and enjoy moments of hysterical laughter while shopping with my daughter Deanna in aisles of stores, esp Wal Mart :) We have a lot of cars, too. Uh, like 10 or 11 on the insurance policy right now, lol.... I have been sober since Oct 1, 1993. There's a 60 yr old alcoholic bartender/waitress that lives across the street goes on blackout binges and sometimes screams at us to "Go back to Arkansas" with her raspy gutteral voice. She gets drunk and staggers around her lawn sometimes screaming at how our lawn has dandilions and we are spreading weeds to her lawn. I once had to turn the garden hose on her one night when she was staggering on our porch drunk refusing to leave, bellowing and wheezing. Oh, that was funny; Even the cop laughed! We bought our house in 93 and have a lot of equity now, but can't really afford to move away because house prices have really shot up in Santa Clarita. We were never from Arkansas, and so we are staying! She will pass away eventually and then we'll have a nice new neighbor. Maybe. lol. We have a lot of animals; 6 doggies, a kitty-cat, 2 birds (hand fed starling and a cockatiel) and 3 horses. My mare Xena was rescued from a rental string. I traced her lip tatoo and got her old owner to give me her papers. She is a well bred standardbred off the track. I bred her to a very nice arabian stallion twice, and kept both colts. Stinkie is almost 7 yrs and awesome, and Tanner is 3 1/2 yrs.. The horses live at a ranch 5 miles down the road. Tanner is being *broke* now. See Deanna's page for pix of Tanner. I wish they could be in our own yard, but....Maybe we should go "back" to Arkansas?!!

My Interests

I am interested in all kinds of things! Animals, especially horses, medicine, both human and veterinary, yummy rich food, laughing my head off, shopping, esp at Goodwill and EBAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY, etc! Oh, and food, too. :) I love our horses, love to go out boating and/or fishing, play raquetball, cycle, and shoot darts....I like events of all sorts and crave excitement. I haven't gone dancing in like 20 years, and would like to go get some lessons and go to some disco clubs! Perhaps I can convince my hubby to quit being such a homebody...

I'd like to meet:

Friendly, sober people who are genuine and fun lovin. :)Not looking to befriend people who are into drugs or habitual drinking.

Music:

I love music from the 80's mostly, you know, like Queen, Fine Young Cannibals. I love Disco. (Yup, and I blast it when and if I am attempting housework!) I also like current artists like Natasha Bedingfiled and can't wait for her to kick out another album. She's AWESOME. I like Guster and Pink and Gwen Stefani. I listen to pop on the radio, although I like older pop too. I have a gigantic collection of vinyl records that I don't know what to do with!!

Movies:

I really like comedies of all kinds. I HATE scary movies, movies about killing, kidnapping, rape, ransom, and generally anything loud, upsetting, tense, or stress-inducing! I can't stand purposefully inducing stress. Why subject yourself to that kinda crap?!!!??!!lol

Television:

I usually hate TV but when I watch, it's because hubby is. (That's his favorite pastime) It is rare that I'll go turn on the TV when I am alone. However, sometimes I will. Sit coms are ok, like Seinfeld and Everybody Loves Raymond. I enjoy documentaries of most subjects. "Cops" is entertaining. I also like to see the first couple American Idol segments due to the ridiculous weirdos. Sometimes I watch forensic files cuz I am curious about morbid things, strangely, esp since I don't like that element in movies! I occaisionally watch sit coms when in the mood.

Books:

Gone With The Wind! I love Historical Novels esp if the settings are in the old south, civil war era, victorian era, etc. I usually read science and nature or medical text, but every now and then I like a good pleasure read!

Heroes:

Crazy Old Drivers
Watch it now on StupidVideos!
