About Camp Z:Camp Z is my solo way of exploration in music.
Inspired by dark facts and highlights, mostly real, historic and social events, the music of Camp Z aims at reflecting the mood and tones of the present time, through a combination of punk, post punk, industrial and rock atmospheres. Among major references of the project's music are Crisis, Killing Joke, Kraftwerk, Joy Division, Sleeping Dogs Wake, Suicide, Ministry, PIL or Wire&x2026;
Numerous meetings within the underground scene, along with musical roots firmly held in many different subcultures, have made this adventure possible and have shaped the sound of Camp Z. This project is also the logical follow-up of my first solo experience: Zorch Factor. Different names and sound but same philosophy: a personal open-minded way of investigation in music, with sound at its very center, but also including a consistent work regarding the visual identity and the texts.
The first self-product album was released in May 2006, supported by Fake Record, an independent label founded by Joy Disaster's Nicolas Rohr and friends. This friendly support around the label and the project (including Nico from Joy Disaster, Cyril from Dorcel and JP that was part of the Zorch Factor adventure) gave me the opportunity to build a live show and to know my first live experience with the Camp in 2006, in Paris at Le Klub.
In late 2006 the project also appeared on several samplers such as "The Sexy Zombies Part 1", a French sampler, or "Awake in the Greylight 3", the sampler proposed by the German fanzine Transmission.
2007 saw the release of a new official release on famous French label Manic Depression, the Violent Memories album, and new gigs followed.
In 2008 Camp Z joins the Zorch Factory Records net label effort and a new record is released there: Our World To Come EP, available for free (as digital files) on the label's website.
La musique de Camp Z essaye de capter l'air du temps, sous un angle forcément personnel et subjectif, dans une ambiance qui évoque et mélange les univers punk, post punk, industriel ou plus simplement rock. Parmi les inspirateurs majeurs du projet on peut évoquer Crisis, Killing Joke, Kraftwerk, Joy Division, Sleeping Dogs Wake, Suicide, Ministry, PIL ou bien encore Wire&x2026;
Un solide ancrage dans le son underground, combiné à de nombreuses et fructueuses rencontres ont permis au projet d'éclore en 2005. Lorsqu'il apparaît, Camp Z est alors la suite logique d'un premier projet solo, Zorch Factor, dont il reprend la philosophie : une aventure personnelle ouverte à de multiples influences, dans laquelle le son tient une place prépondérante mais sans négliger le travail sur les mots et les images.
Un premier album autoproduit voit le jour en mai 2006, avec le soutien du label associatif Fake Record, fondé par Nicolas Rohr de Joy Disaster. Cette participation active d'amis musiciens autour du projet et du label (Nicolas de Joy Disaster, Cyril de Dorcel, JP qui avait participé à l'aventure Zorch Factor) donne l'occasion à Camp Z de se produire sur scène pour la première fois à Paris en aout 2006, au Klub.
On note également l'apparition du projet sur quelques compilations fin 2006, telles que "The Sexy Zombies Part 1" ou bien encore "Awake in the Greylight 3", la compilation proposée par le fanzine allemand Transmission.
En 2007 un second album, Violent Memories, sort de manière plus officielle sur le label Manic Depression et de nouveaux concerts sont programmés, puis en 2008 Camp Z participe à l'aventure du net label Zorch Factory Records, sur lequel sort le dernier ouvrage en date du projet, Our World To Come EP.
