Those videos are taken from our live performance for the opening of the gothic festival “Le Festival de l’Erèbe” at the Locomotive venue in Paris, February the 18th 2007 – the first show of the band with the new line-up, after five years of complete public silence. For those who were there and for those who are curious about LOD playing live.
For the bad points of this experience : an approximate and too low general sound (we hear the kick blasts of the other stage and people talking during the songs), a voice mixed too loud into the mix, no monitor for the singer (good surprise of the very last moments of the sound check before the show, pretty comfortable to play in time and to sing in tune), some musical mistakes, a light engineer who had a very personal, original and singular conception of lightening (seems to apply a principle of his own like “a dark stage for a dark music”), and the fact that as we were the first band of the festival playing 20 minutes after the opening of the doors, we started in front of very few people and the ones who came for us did only manage too see 2 or 3 songs for most of them (as we can hear at the end of last extract of the set).
For the good points : apart from and despite all the things said before, we took a great pleasure doing it, the organizers gave us really good conditions for our live return, globally things were ok, we went through it and for the first concert of the band after 5 years of silence (the first one with the new line-up), it was a very good experience which we can look at and share with you, if not with great pride, at last without shame. This is a testimony of our (re)birth, chaotic as every birth. But, as imperfect and needing a future important improvement as it may be, we like it for what it is and as it is, in all honesty, in all humility and in all sincerity. Hope you will share this feeling.
