x2"slammer"c first got into drum and bass back in 1998 when he used to go round old friend dj fly's house and he had a set of decks. As time went on x2 started to get bored with that and attempted to mix and made a right dogs dinner of it ill tell you. After constant attempts he finally started to get the hang of it but unfortunatly at the time he didnt own a set of decks so mixing as regular as he wished wasnt possible.At the begining of 2000 he invested in a pc and found a program called pcdj which for him was an innovation because it ment that even thou he didnt own a set of decks he could still mix at home.After months of practice and endless nights of attempted mixing he finally thought it was time to invest in a set of decks. He found a second hand pair in mint condition at the local second hand record shop they were synergy belt drives and came with a mixer and only for 200 buks so was well chuffed.He continued to mix and progress as an atempted dj and for the next 2 years.He just kept buying records and mixing with a few friends (big up tri-axe the benz the $hagga the insaine) who also had decks and not long after he started mixing with dj izzit who has become his b2b partner along with dj mis-shona and dizzie and together we go under the name of dub industries.In late 2002 his great grandad died (r.i.p) and he left him some money which so happend at the time to be enough to purchase a set of technics 1210 mk2's and a vestax pmc170a mixer which was offered to him by essence fm station manager/founder and presenter dj fraudster ( thefraudster.com). So now he was armed with a set of the best decks a high quality mixer and a massive amount of records which gave him the drive to keep getting better.At the begining of 2004 he hooked up with a dj from maidstone called spineless and together they wanted to start playing out so they tried to put on their own event, and after many let downs they nearly gave up but with much thanks to simon@ the loft in maidstone they managed to secure a night on the 2nd of december 2004. Now promotion for this was hard as he had to juggle supermarket management and traveling to maidstone which wasnt easy and looking back now he wishes he had done things different but hay we all make mistakes. For the night they managed to secure the likes of nicky blackmarket and ray keith thanks to laura at the dread agency big up!!! and they also had mc's fun sugars and herbzie (massive shout to yara at the urban agency and all the urban agency staff) unfortunatly the night was not a sucsess and it left his spirt very dampened and thoughts turned away from djing for about 2 weeks. Then he snaped out of it and got his head back into the music.On boxing day 2004 he got a break with mc killar-d and they were invited to go over to essence fm studios and do a boxing day show live on air. This was a very big and enjoyable experince for x2c and killar. After that show they had a regular slot every sunday 8-10 where they smashed the airwaves each and every week shortly after our first month they managed to get a slot for dj izzit on sundays 12-2 and they also got swiched to prime time show 8-10 saturdays where they smashed it even more. Not long after this point they joined forces with izzit and done a saturday show and the sundays just x2c and izzit.Easter saw his first booking and he was asked to play at release the funk alongside other essence residents and dr s gachet. They all had a great time down there and it was a night to be remembered for him.In june x2c and izzit booked a local club and threw a joint 21st birthday bash which was another sucsessfull night.While he was on the radio x2c was introduced to a dj by the name of jekz (hydestudios.com, ukeventmodels.com) who has become a very good and close friend, and he saw the potential of x2c and wanted to meet him.At the end of july 2005 x2c managed to break his leg and his ankle in 3 places which saw him on crutches for the next 3 months. During this period he got invited to dj at a house party by jekz and with his love for djing being as strong as it was no broken leg was going to stop him. So he hopped down there with a few mates (nuff respect to styl-e for carring the box). When they turned up there he was shocked because he knew most of the people there from years ago.He then hooked up with dj mis-shona and together they started mixing all the time and also became very good friends as well. Unkowen to x2c at the time but her mum happened to be seeing mc five-0 and at the begining of november he was asked to go and cover a set at hastings peir for champion of champions dj ron who had unfortunatly cancelled (big respect to mr five-0 and mrs p for the oppertunity and to jekz for driving me down there when he was hanging off). So x2c turned up and really impressed the people there and played two half hour sets of which the second he had more confidence and mashed up.2006 so far has held alot of which he had wished to have seen.It saw the start of some extremely close friendships and a residency on world renound aftershock radio (www.aftershockradio.com), and with much thanks to miss represents thats where he still is every thursday 8-10 along side dj jekz, the hyde studios crew and a whole host of guests including kg, erb n dub, logan d and more in the pipe line. The residency on the radio on the radio also brought him an invite to dj at the local night in glouster run by the radio.It also held a residency in local club esc where they started to run a dnb event on bank holiday sundays so far which he has played along side the likes of grooverider and mampi swift and had the likes of eksman, fatman d, dett and riddla who rewound the first three tunes he droped. The next event is on 28th may which sees the likes of the mighty shy fx, bad company, eksman, dett and shaaba d.
