Stephanie Jacques, also known as Saja, could never remember a time when she didn't imagine becoming a vocalist. Born July 11, 1983, Stephanie grew up in the suburban town of Pleasanton, the same bay area town as Gabrielle Union. With her mother passing away when she was two years old, Stephanie was raised by her maternal grandmother along with two older brothers and an older sister. Her experience as a singer began at a local church and continued into many numerous community shows. Her natural love for music led her to dabble in different instruments including hand bells and classical piano. All the while, she worked hard to develop her singing talent with Julliard honors graduate, Sarah Franklin. Even at age 9, Stephanie was performing Italian, German and French pieces. All throughout her training in classical music, Stephanie found herself naturally drawn to the soft beats and rich sounds of R&B. As her vocal ability continued to develop, she entered herself into as many talent shows as possible, winning one of the most prestigious shows of all: The Battle of The Bay, singing her own unique rendition of "Stranger in my House," by Tamia. After an accomplishment like this, Stephanie had no question in her mind that she had found the genre of music she loved and she made the decision to shift her focus from classical singing to more contemporary, and now trains in both jazz and R&B. These days you can also hear the catchy beats of hip hop fused into her music, accompanying classic old school flavors and various pop elements. In addition to her vocal abilities, Stephanie is also an experienced songwriter. Ghost writing and writing for top acts. Living in Los Angeles has given her the opportunity to work with producers (like Boom Brothers) These top names have worked with the likes of Tevin Campbell, Babyface, Diana Ross, and Tamia. Saja is currently collaborating on a number of projects with local artists including: Elle B, Tility, Dasha, and producer A-tone of Hot Beatz Entertainment Group, Stan Greene. Also notable is a guest appearance on CSI: NY opposite Hill Harper and her music and voice being featured in the upcoming film "Sinner".
