Dannielle DeAndrea
Dannielle DeAndrea is simply an outstanding vocalist! A soulful artist with a beautiful sound, her voice has reached into almost every niche of the entertainment world, establishing a foundation for a long and varied career.
An Australia native and the daughter of a dancer and a drummer, Dannielle began performing in Sydney at a very young age. She played the role of Pepper in the hit musical Annie while enjoying solo performances on Australian variety television shows, including The Two Ronnies and Glenn Shorrock’s one man shows.
With Glen she released the single “One Million Minutes of Peace†for the International Year of Peace, in addition to a duet titled “Communication†with John Farnham, the latter reaching Top 10 throughout Australia.
As she developed her talent and sharpened her skills, Dannielle relocated to London and was the first Australian to break into the UK soul chart with the release of three singles “Do It For Love,†“Stuck In the Middle,†and “Secret Love,†all which reached the Top 10 and Top 50 in UK pop and dance charts respectively. Her vocals from these recordings were later sampled for the huge UK dance hit “Wanna Spend the Night.â€
With a string of successful U.K. releases under her belt, Dannielle was featured on The Michael Ball Show, providing supporting vocals for the likes of Joe Cocker, Tom Jones, Lulu, and James Brown. She further lent her vocals to recordings with Sting, Kylie Minogue, Marcia Hines, Eran James, Guy Sebastian, Jeff Young, Rozalla, Gerry DeVaux, and The Pet Shop Boys. Dannielle’s live credits include performances with Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Renee Geyer, Rick Price, Doug Parkinson, and Jason Donovan.
Dannielle is no stranger to Hollywood either. Her smooth vocals can be found in the films Mr Wonderful, Rough Diamonds, Among Giants and Doing Time For Patsy Cline.
When it comes to television, Dannielle is the voice behind the NSW Tourism's current international campaign, 'There's no place in the world like Sydney'. She was further featured as part of the Nissan Cedrics duo, and appeared on Roy & HGs hit television show Club Buggery, including roles in the mini sit-coms Turps About The House and Star Search the Space Odyssey.
Even the Monarchy of Great Britain has enjoyed Dannielle’s vocal styling’s during two Royal Command Performances in Australia, the first for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, and second for the late Princess Diana.
Dannielle reunited with John Farnham for his The Last Time tour, providing backing vocals on the duets “Angels†and “Please Don’t Ask Me.†She performed to sell-out crowds around Australia, and later with the national concert tour of John Farnham and Tom Jones. Dannielle recently performed with John at the closing ceremony of the Commonwealth Games, broadcast to a worldwide audience of millions.
Beyond her own aspirations and achievements, Dannielle is committed to the development of new talent as a board member of the Glenn Shorrock Music Scholarship Award, held annually for talented young Australian singer/songwriter/musicians.
Already an impressive vocal career, Dannielle seemingly had done it all, that is, until a series of performances in an intimate Sydney venue inspired her to try something new: Jazz! These performances set the framework for her debut You Don't Know Me, a stunning contemporary album of classics recorded in tribute to her grandparents. According to Dannielle, this collection of Jazz standards is something she could only contemplate after years of honing her craft; "These are songs that I could not have done without having been through all the moments in my life and my career.â€
Now based in Los Angeles, Dannielle has just released a chilled contemporary album, Chocolate For Holly. Select tracks from this album have been featured on the radio programs of Garth Trinidad from KCRW and Kristi Lomax from KPFK. Her recent project Leaving the Ozone was produced by Christophe Jacquelin, and a subsequent track "Even When They Cry" was used for the IMAX movie Dolphins and Whales 3D.
Dannielle’s latest venture is a partnership with the M.I.S. Music Group of California State University Northridge. Together, she has recorded four brand-new original songs, all featured on the compact disc accompanying this biography. This collaboration will expose Dannielle and her talents to an entirely new audience in a unique and clever way. Her passion for music, combined with determination and innovation, has been the secret to her success. This new relationship will only further showcase what has already been and continue to be, a very impressive career!
