Welcome to the world of DbMA
Powered by an inherent desire to create music, DbMA is the collision of six of Coventry’s musical minds. The sound created is a synthesis of the passion and dynamics of early 90’s grunge and the structural finesse of progressive rock all welded together with the hippy ideals, both musically and politically, of the 60’s and 70’s. As described by MAS Records, “DbMA’s music is full of the energies and structures of great rock music, and in the process, they have mutated it into forms unrecognisable to those who invented it. The band’s playing remains both thrilling and subversive in the way they upend traditional rock music, and they successfully buckles all notions of how it should behave.â€
DbMA comprises of the combined abilities of Andy Beglin – lead vocals, Scott Parkes – guitar and backing vocals and Paul Hartry – guitar and backing vocals, who together create the harmonic force that that provide the music’s defining vocal style. Underpinning the powerful melodies and soaring harmonies is the pulsating rhythm section of drummer, Chris Hartry, and bassist, Dan Walker, who together provide the solid foundations for keyboard and synthesiser player Dave Medforth to decorate the metaphorical musical house. DbMA came into being when circumstances pushed the members of two bands, who between them became the first British band to play at Athfest, an event organised by members of REM and The B52’s in their home town of Athens, Georgia, and played alongside the London Philharmonic Orchestra in London’s Royal Festival Hall, together. After playing together once, it was decided unanimously that DbMA was all systems go.
According to the Coventry Evening Telegraph “DbMA is everything that made you fall in love with scuzzy and dazzlingly powerful rock ’n’ roll in the first place†and, given the right time, DbMA, hopes to musically romance you into falling in love with them too.
