Silvetre Revueltas was born on the last day of 1899. He was born into an artistic family. His brother FermÃn, was one of the Mexican muralists. His music was highly original and influenced heavily by the popular and revolutionary music of his time. His was a genial music at times sounding mad, humorous or at times both. His music reflected his state of being, since he lived a tumultous life. One of his greatest works is "La noche de los mayas" a symphonic score originally composed for a movie of the same name. He composed other works for other films dating back to the 1930s.
