Jay Lamont is a graduate of Langston University with a B.A. Degree in Broadcast Journalism. He started out working as a radio personality for radio stations in Oklahoma City and Houston, Texas. After relocating to Houston, he began to embark on a career in the comedy business as well as a singer. He has opened for such artists as The Gap Band, The O'Jays and the late Roger Troutman. During the time in Houston, he was invited to perform at a local comedy club where he met various individuals who would help in broadening his career. He had the chance to appear on the first season of BET's Comicview and later, he appeared on Showtime At The Apollo, Russell Simmon's Def Comedy Jam, Jamie Foxx presents Laffapalooza and recently, 'Comics Unleashed Hot Chocolate' with Byron Allen. After that time, he's had the pleasure of opening for such acts such as the late great Luther Vandross, Anita Baker, MAZE featuring Frankie Beverly, D.L. Hughley, Steve Harvey, Tommy Davidson, Cedric The Entertainer, Mike Epps and Jamie Foxx. He recently played the character of Dewberry in the Hit Stage Play 'Mama's Sweet Potato Pie'. He's also a member of two R&B groups in which he's the lead vocalist. He has toured all around the country and also, he's involved in an accepella group out of Oakland, Ca called 'Chelle & Friends (chelleandfriends.com). Presently, he lives in LA and plans to do more and make alot of things happen in the future. Peace and love.
