Radio One to Host Town Hall Meeting as a part of theBimbe FestivalDurham, NC: On Monday May 14, 2007 7pm-9pm Radio One of Raleigh is hosting its 2nd Community Town Hall meeting on the campus of North Carolina Central University in Durham, NC. Radio One of Raleigh’s 1st Town Hall, moderated by Russ Parr & Cy Young, in January 2007, drew over 300 attendees addressing community issues & solutions. It was great!About – Radio One of Raleigh 2nd Community Town Hall MeetingModerated by Brian Dawson & Gayle Hurd, Radio One of Raleigh’s 2nd Town Hall meeting serves as the official kick off of the City of Durham Parks and Recreation Department’s 38th Annual Bimbé Cultural Arts Festival, May 11th – May 20th. The Town Hall meeting’s theme is “A Family Sit Down – Understanding Cultural Awareness†and will address the cultural differences that make up our community and what we have lost and gained from identified differences. A noted panel of community leaders will be on hand to listen and respond to the concerns of the citizens of Durham.A Family Sit Down – Understanding Cultural Awareness forum will provide a variety of students, parents, community leaders, government officials the opportunity to share their cultural heritage and traditions with each other and the local community. Radio One of Raleigh Town Hall meetings are designed to provide everyone the opportunity to interact, learn, and appreciate each others understanding within their community.About -The 38th Annual Bimbé FestivalOn Saturday and Sunday, May 19-20, the Durham Parks and Recreation Department will host the 38th Bimbé Cultural Arts Festival at the Durham Athletic Park. The theme this year is "It's a Family Reunion." The Festival will take place on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. -10:00 p.m. and will feature an eclectic mix of music and dance celebrating African American traditions. The festival will continue on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. and will feature jazz and gospel performances.
