Glenn Marais
Glenn Marais is a gifted singer/songwriter who plays guitar, harmonica and piano. Glenn is also an animated and engaging child and youth performer and educator. He is currently raising funds for the Cotlands Orphanage in Cape Town South Africa, under the Kids for Cotlands campaign. $23 000 has been raised to date. He orchestrated the One Candle campaign in Dec.2007 to raise money for families of Canadian Military personal in the Afghanistan War, www.onecandle.ca.
He is president and founder of the Glenn Marais Foundation, a philanthropic organization devoted to raising awareness and funds locally and globally and is founder and president of the Canadian Youth Advocacy, an organization that seeks to inform and motivate young Canadians to make positive changes in their lives, their community and globally.
• On Sunday Aug.13th /06, the video for Like a Child, debuted at the Rogers Centre Skydome for the Toronto International AIDS Conference. On Friday Aug.18th/06 Glenn Closed the AIDS conference with a performance of Like a Child in front of 7000 people, broadcast internationally on CBC Newsworld.
• In November 2005, Glenn flew to Africa to film a video for his song, “Like a Childâ€. It debuted on Much More Music on Jan.30th/2006 and was number one on Much More Music’s “Clip Trip†show.
• The CD/DVD for Like a Child contains four bonus songs, from Glenn’s upcoming release, Alive in the Mud and the DVD contains video, documentary footage and live performance footage and is available through Indie Pool online at , www.likeachild.ca and at HMV and other major retailers.
• Like a Child was on rotation on 20 AC and HOT AC stations across Canada, receiving rave reviews:

• Glenn recently came second in the Mix 99.9 Canadian Radio Star Contest, with his entry, “Don’t Let Your Love Goâ€, which is included in the Like a Child package and the upcoming “Alive in the Mud†release.
• Glenn co-wrote the song “Everybody Wants to Be Like Youâ€, with the artist, “Snow†in 2000. The song was the second fastest rising song in Canadian history, reaching the Top Ten and is currently the fifth most played song in Canadian radio history.
• Glenn received a Socan award and was nominated for a Juno award in the best songwriting category for “Everybody Wants to Be Like Youâ€.
