About Me
..
KNOTHEAD'S story is one of ultimate triumph... Born from the ashes of a crippling methamphetamine addiction... KNOTHEAD has fought and clawed his way to sobriety... He believes that music saved his life and views his rhymes as his salvation and a way to educate. He also sees his rhymes as one of the major factors that has enabled him to successfully leave "the scene" and walking death behind... He now seeks to use his rhymes from life experience as a way to make something, ANYTHING positive out of his time spent in that desperate, hellish world... KNOTHEAD compromises NOTHING in his music, because he fears the death of his music will launch him headlong into the abyss of addiction and despair once more... Daily... he struggles... A man with nothing to lose... he seems to have everything to gain...
With a move to Spokane, Washington for a fresh start late in the summer of 2005, KNOTHEAD has indeed started to gain... 2005 was a big year in establishing KNOTHEAD as a respected name not only in a new city, but regionally as well... Evidence of KNOTHEAD's possible crossover appeal surfaced in May of 2006, when KNOTHEAD did the impossible for an underground "horror" rapper, and his biggest underground hit to date at that time, "Stompin" was featured on BIG MAMA AND THE WILD BUNCH, a morning show on Spokane's 104.5FM, the city's now defunct, but at the time number one top 40 mainstream rap/hip-hop/r&b station. It was a huge achievement for such an unrepentantly underground act such as KNOTHEAD, to get such hardcore, abrasive, metal based content on mainstream hip-hop radio.
In October of 2006, with local and internet buzz reaching a fever-pitch, (and finally feeling ready) KNOTHEAD returned to the stage after a five year absence to begin satisfying the public appetite for live performances, and absolutely no one was disappointed... KNOTHEAD also insured that his name would be talked about well into 2007 in his new city, by becoming friends with and collaborating with several of the higher profile rappers in Spokane, most notably with M-DUB, with whom he collaborated on the genre-busting underground smash hit and instant classic, "SPOKANE2HADLOCK" in late December, 2006... KNOTHEAD continued to perform live constantly in Spokane as well as throughout the Northwest in 2007, including a half-dozen shows in Portland, several Seattle shows, and many stops in smaller towns in between. Unfortunately and EXTREMELY reluctantly, due to financial demands of the travel, KNOTHEAD was forced to turn down dozens of show offers and bookings across the nation... 2007 proved to be the busiest year of KNOTHEAD's career to date, with stretches that included 5 shows in 9 days, 3 shows in 3 states in 5 days, and opening for several national tours, most notably for HED PE and BIG B (Suburban Noize Records) on the "INSOMNIA" tour & 2 consecutive dates opening for CRITICAL BILL and KUTT KALHOUN of Strange Music on the "DOWNTOWN THE WORLD" tour.
KNOTHEAD, already hot locally, went inferno in May of 2007, when KNOTHEAD once again did the impossible for an underground "horror" rapper, achieving airplay on a SECOND mainstream broadcast radio station of a different format, ROCK 94.5FM, (the number 1 hard rock/metal radio station in Spokane) after being discovered online by ROCK 94.5 on-air personality JP. KNOTHEAD entered the Rock 94.5 playlist with TWO tracks, "(KNOTHEAD's BACK 2K7", and "CLINGING THREAD") finding airplay, in addition to being a featured interview on JP's "LOCAL 945" program, which highlights the hottest local talent the region has to offer. KNOTHEAD's interview was so entertaining and popular amongst Rock 94.5 listeners that it has been replayed constantly since April. To date, 3 more KNOTHEAD interviews have been conducted and all have been replaying sporadically.
KNOTHEAD continues to see the benefits of his "E-HUSTLE", as the words and music of KNOTHEAD continues to permeate through the Pacific Northwest, and spill over into other regions, catching new ears across the nation and internationally, as new fans discover KNOTHEAD daily... 2007 also saw KNOTHEAD make the transition from regional powerhouse to multi-regional name, with a major increase in vocal support from the Eastern Seaboard as well as the American Mid and Southwest. Overseas interest in KNOTHEAD exploded as well in 2007, as vocal supporters from the UK, Germany, Japan, China, and even Australia have begun to discover and promote KNOTHEAD abroad. As 2007 closed, the fervent regional, national, and international demand for KNOTHEAD continued to build... The past is behind... The future beckons...
