About Me
My name is Robert Keyes, Producer and Owner of Turn It Off Studios located here in Spokane Washington. Over the last 9 years I've produced 23 albums, and countless demos, singles, mixtapes, and other piece work. With the experience and equipment here I'm confident that any artist that walks through my door leaves happy. My project list includes Knothead, Ill Haven, Gryn, Mindclicc 20/02, Kee-da-fee, and many many more.So here's what I'm up to now!No more mixtapes, singles, and piecework. I'm in this business to do albums.I'm frequently asked how much I charge an hour. GOOD QUESTION! I'd rather put together a package custom to your project, put it in writing, then everyone agrees and then TIME is no longer a hangup. I get the gratification of a bigger payment up front and you never have to watch the clock while we work. There's less stress that way and projects get done faster without financial hangups.I'm also asked how I can compete with other studios that charge $15-$20 an hour. ANOTHER GOOD QUESTION! The truth is I don't want to compete with them. For many years while studying audio and learning the craft I charged Bargain Basement prices. Through my investments in equipment and thousands of hours working, learning, and practicing my skill has gone from bargain basement studio to Professional Quality. I use a combination of analog and digital techniques and equipment work together to give you a sound that software alone cannot replicate. I'm an audio engineer, not simply a computer operator. Plus we have the benefit of technical experimentation which is what makes my projects stand out from the rest.I'm a musician as well and will create custom instrumentals for each of your songs if you're a vocalist. I won't work with tracks that are given to me as a mix, downloaded off the internet, or mp3's. What you get in those circumstances are mechanical license issues, unbalanced mixes/albums, recognition rights battles, copyright infringement issues, someone else used that beat battles, and so much other drama that one could avoid by simply being original so NO outside beats unless we make an exclusive deal for the instrumental and it's provided to me as tracks so I can remix if needed. From start to finish you are part of the process which makes your project unique and truly your own...The tracks I have posted are all premixed and unmastered so they're likely to sound a little rough. I'll have better examples up soon. Contact me for your next project and give your album the attention it deserves! Thanks for your time!Robert Keyes
