RavenWoods was formed in 1998 by guitar players Cihan Engin and Ozan Yildirim. With the first line-up, the band started
composing for the first release,"In Silent Agony" EP,was recorded at Zoo Sound Studio in 2001 and released
by the same label. The music was melodic raw black metal with keyboards. At the same time RavenWoods performed
in local gigs,festivals and left a good impression to the audience and took good reviews from German Rock Hard Magazine
after the Rockstation Festival performance.
In 2003, the band had line-up changes. Former members recruited Cihan Akun on guitars
and Aybars Altay on vocals. Ozan switched to drums and the band started writing and arranging new material.
The music changed to be guitar-based after departure of keyboards and the had influences
from various types of music styles.
8 new tracks were recorded at Midasin Kulakligi Studio (Erkan Tatoglu, Cuneyt Caglayan)
in 2005 for the album "...And Emotions Are Spilled", and signed with Atlantis Music for a 2006 release.
The album has both old-school and modern elements from black,doom,death metal with both aggressive and emotional vocals,
crushing guitar riffs and acoustic parts. The band is looking forward to return to live shows
after the release of the album.
