The band was formed in 2003 by young, but experienced musicians in the eastern part of Hungary, Debrecen. After a few months’ intensive rehearsals they were asked by a movie director, Zsombor Dyga to write some songs for the soundtrack of his new film called Tesó (Bro). The early music could already be characterized by catchy vocals and danceable rhythms influenced by the britpop of the nineties. After this period Gonzo took a short break in making music, but in 2005 they came back and since then have polished their style being able to mix old school britpop and alternative music with pure and energetic post-new wave sound and fresh indie-dance tunes. The outcome is an eclectic, modern, dynamic and entertaining mixture. Gonzo is getting more and more popular in Hungary playing gigs in their hometown and the capital city or performing on festivals before bigger bands. It is also the permanent host of the Indie Club in Debrecen which gives an opportunity to groups and DJs to play indie or brit pop music. The band has just finished its debut studio album entitled Lost and Found, which got very good critical acclaim. Gonzo also made its first video for “Peeping Tomâ€, their first single from the LP.Contact us:
