I am German, Swedish, Irish, French, Dutch and Indian. My children's father is black and French. So, lots of stuff all mixed up.I am a divorced , work-at-home mom with two young kids. I basically run around all day with them doing parent-and-me classes, field trips, exploring and learning. At night, when they are sleeping, I am usually cleaning, on the computer or reading. I love to read. A new thing that I have been doing for some time now is knitting. A friend is showing me how.I only know how to do one thing right now, scarves, but we are going to meet soon so that I can learn more. Right now it seems that all my friends and family will get a scarf for Christmas since I have quiet a few as I learn and improve.I have also just started taking piano lessons! I had keyboard lessons back in jr. high and nothing in the years in between. It is going well so far but I have not been practicing enough!We have a zoo of animals here too. My dog, Zeus, is about 9 years old now. We have some guppies, mollies and other fish, two parakeets, Huck2 and Tweetie, three hermit crabs, two fat tailed leopard geckos and a hamster named Sugar Bella.On any given week day we are often off and running. I like to take my children places to have fun and learn. Our recent outings have been to Underwood Farms (we go there often), The Huntington Botanical Gardens, California Science Center, Kidspace Museum, Gull Wing Museum, the beach and we like look at the map of parks in our city and choose different parks to play at. I like to teach my children about different cultures around the world as they grow and learn.When I do not have my kids I like to hang out with my friends, go out to eat, drink, dance or just relax at home. I also try to catch up on sleep and house stuff.What I need to do is have more "ME" time too. I have not been pampering myself enough lately and I need to make sure that I take care of myself too and not be so absorbed in the role of mom or teacher that I forgot who I am. So, I am trying to make sure I find time to do things for myself too. Even if this means spending the day on the back porch with a good book and my dog at my feet.
